Trying to compare what's normal and what's to expect! Mine seems late.

Mine was 8 weeks with my first, about 10/11 with my second.

whitehalleve · 27/03/2019 12:57

10-11 weeks. It's just lots of paperwork.

MissInconsiderate · 27/03/2019 12:59

Had most recent at 8 wks. Ridiculous amount of paperwork. Bloods. Blood pressure. Height. Weight. Discuss hospital, appointments, scans, breastfeeding, diet, alcohol, smoking ect

RoryLeighGilmore · 27/03/2019 12:59

Oh and they run through a full history of your family health, check whether you need extra support or may be more vulnerable, do a blood test, blood pressure and urine test. You get your pregnancy notes, general information leaflets and a letter to send off to book your 12/13 week scan.

piraterach · 27/03/2019 13:01

Mine was at 8 weeks. Normal booking in appointment they tell you what to expect regarding appointments, take blood pressure and a lot of family history.

It was a little underwhelming.

Good luck in your pregnancy Smile

8 weeks. My first appointment was yesterday. Basically take blood pressure, weigh you, take your height. Then start filling in a huge booklet which they say to continue filling in at home. I thought they might want blood or urine samples but nope not at the moment apparently.

The midwife is then coming out to my house to see me next week. Not sure why lol

Leleophants · 27/03/2019 15:29

That's weird, is it any more info since the referral as I gave a lot of that already. I'll be 11 weeks! When is the latest they do first scan?

Claphands · 27/03/2019 15:32

I didn’t have mine until I was 12 weeks due to waiting for an appointment and I’d contacted them fairly late, prepare to be there awhile. Had a scan on that appointment too iirc

Leleophants · 27/03/2019 15:51

How long will it take? I have a meeting that day so will need to be an hour tops, but don't want to rearrange as it took so long to get this!

Hope you don't mind me asking on your thread OP - can anyone let me know what kind of things they ask for family history? I want to check I actually know the answers!

HJWT · 27/03/2019 17:18

@Leleophants hi I had my booking in app yesterday but I had filled in most of the notes myself so was only there 40 mins also took blood, i have my scan at exactly 12 weeks and you can have it between 11-14 weeks 😁

Leleophants · 27/03/2019 18:58

@HJWT how did you feel after blood being taken? Hope I'm up to my meeting after

Claphands · 27/03/2019 19:16

I can’t remember how long tbh, but I was there ages!

Dyra · 27/03/2019 19:43

I had mine at 11+2. First baby. Don't worry, might just be the midwives for your area is a little busy atm to be able to do an earlier appointment.

As for family history questions, they want to know if you have any medical issues of your own/in your family/father's family that could affect you or baby (congenital heart disease, diabetes, childhood hip issues, pre-eclampsia, genetic issues and the like).

Bloods are only a couple of vials (5-10ml each). As long as you're ok with needles you'll be ok for your meeting.

OnlyLittleMissOrganised · 27/03/2019 21:07

For family history it’s things like heart disease, diabetes, thrombosis, high blood pressure, genetic counselling, abnormalities at birth, multiple still births or miscarriages, one to do with hip defects I think. There are a few more things on this list but I can’t remember them.

It’s both yours and your partners family history. It wants to know for blood relatives I.e. parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and first cousins and any children you already have.
