Pregnancy distractions

Hi everyone. I'd be really grateful for any ideas you have about keeping busy during early pregnancy. I've just had a positive pregnancy test after a miscarriage last year at 12+1, and agreed with partner to wait as long as possible before telling friends and family in case anything goes wrong with this pregnancy. I'm looking for distractions to stop me obsessing over the future - and outlets for the pent-up pregnancy excitement. Any suggestions?

(P.S. Thank you! Smile and please let me know if I've got any of the netmums etiquette wrong as I'm new here)

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage, early pregnancy must be an extra tricky time.
Intense spring cleaning of your house?
Throw yourself into researching recipes and cooking delicious food?
Do you knit or crochet or have any inclination to learning? A few friends sweat by this for switching off and relaxing.

Congratulations!!

I also had a miscarriage last year at 10 weeks. I found out in December that I was pregnant again (am now 21 weeks and thankfully all is going well) and those early weeks were really nerve wracking so I totally sympathise.

I went out and bought a good book, and every time I felt my mind wandering I would pick up the book and read instead. Another I found useful was telling myself that this is a new pregnancy, new sperm and new egg and the odds were in my favour.

Wishing you all the best xx

@Newyearsameoldshit
Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. I'm basically going to work through your list of ideas in order over the next few days. Hope all is OK with you.

@snowy29
I'm really sorry to hear about last year but I'm so happy to hear that things are going well now. Best wishes for August(?)
Thanks for great suggestions. I am going to look for a proper page turner. Grin

The only thing you've got wrong is calling it Netmums ;) some people would get twitchy about that!

Seriously though, congrats :) I'm rubbish at suggesting anything as early pregnancy has always been such a draft for me!

@Nannypear
I can't believe I did that! Haha. Thank you Smile
