TTC after loss

I’m sure this question is asked regularly, and if there are threads I can read for reassurance, I’d be grateful if signposting.

We suffered a MC at 8wks on Friday. It’s been a difficult weekend, but I’ve been so surprised by the number of people I’ve learned of who have had successful pregnancies very soon after loss like this. My closest friend got pregnant and is 24wks now and had a MC the month before this BFP. Her colleague had a baby in Jan and didn’t even have a period after a MC before getting pregnant again.

I know this is a difficult subject, but I was just wondering (hoping) that some here might share about how soon after loss they had a BFP.

I’m 37, been TTC since sept 2017, and I was so so convinced that this was our golden moment, I was overconfident of course, I know the stats for loss at my age. But I just want to hear good news stories, some reassurance that it could still happen for me...😔

Hi hun I had a early miscarriage on may 2015. I conceived my son in June 2015 and he is now a happy 3 year old. I suffered a late miscarriage in October last year at 18 weeks and I am currently 21 weeks pregnant. I never had a period between the loss and this one as had issues inbetween and was shocked how quickly I fell. It is possible hun and I am 32. So sorry for you loss it is so hard.

Hey, I had a missed miscarriage at the end of Jan this year. I should of been 9 weeks pregnant and the baby stopped at 6. I've just had a positive pregnancy test this morning, all be it faint but it's there. Wishing you lots of luck! Xx

Thank you for sharing ladies. I’m staying positive, as best I can. Just got to get through the EPU scan this afternoon which will confirm the loss, then I’ll have the closure I need 😔

A lady (who is becoming a friend) at my ante natal fell pregnant the month after her MC and she is now 32 weeks pregnant at the age of 37. Sorry for your loss x

I had a mmc in July at 10.5 weeks (baby stopped growing at 5ish) then took 6 months to get pregnant again. Unfortunately had another miscarriage at 8 weeks then got pregnant following that without having a period- currently 7+5 and hoping it's third time lucky for us!

I had a miscarriage on 6th January this year and I am currently just over 6 weeks pregnant. I didn't have a period after my miscarriage. I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

Wow. I’m in a really weird, but happy place. I had a scan this aft, and it turns out I’m still pregnant!!! In fact, further along than suspected. I had a massive bleed with clots, although no pain at all. I had no doubt I’d suffered a mc. I’m kind of flummoxed!

I am so sorry, all of you, for your losses. Although I didn’t have it, I definitely (even for one weekend) felt it, and it’s been heartbreaking. It’s kind of unbelievable xx

OP - that’s amazing news!

I had a heavy bleed this morning and at scan they said it’s the start of a miscarriage. I’ll have another scan next week to confirm the loss. The embryo didn’t look as it should, but they cancelled all my booked scans and midwife appointments, which makes me think they are definite it’s a miscarriage.

Can I ask you what were you told at the first scan?

Sessy19 · 26/03/2019 08:33

@Username2019 I wasn’t scanned at my first presentation at A&E. I was advised by my MW to go to A&E if I had any worries before my booking appt on 1 Apr. I was examined by on-call doctor on fri and they gave me the scan appt for yesterday. The doctor at A&E didn’t give me much to go on, but did advise me to continue as if I was still pregnant until the scan, the bleed was so heavy and with big clots so I was utterly convinced it was over. They suggested in the scan that it may have been a twin pg (I’m 37) and that I had perhaps just lost one. I had no cramping at all, I felt nothing at the time of the bleed except for the gush as I stood up and felt what seemed like an entire period coming out of me. Fingers crossed for you my lovely xxxx

@Sessy19 thank you for your answer. The twin pregnancy does make a lot of sense.

Unfortunately I miscarried this morning Sad, at least it was quick and painless and we can move on. The doctor warned me that there could be complications and up to 3 weeks of bleeding, so looking at the bright side of things.

Wishing you all the very best with your pregnancy xxx

It's good to hear positive stories. I have just had a mmc which I had surgical management for yesterday. We are going to leave ttc for a few months but I'm terrified of another loss. I'm 39 so know my age is against me 😞
