Anyone had a baby that always measured ahead at scan?

So I had a bleed at 4 weeks, was scanned at 5+4 and baby measured 6 weeks, had another scan Friday due to a bleed 8+5 and measuring 9+4!!
So almost 1 full week bigger than it should be...

Has anyone else had this?

I remember going to my 12 week scan with DD and being told I was 13+1 (which was impossible as that would of meant I got pregnant before my VERY heavy period)

So is it just that I have long baby's?

Big baby in my case, with each scan he measured further along, increasing each time. He was born at 38 weeks and was 9lb 6. Expecting no. 2 now and he was also measuring ahead so far so guessing itl be another big one. Hopefully he'll arrive early again otherwise I'd be expecting a ten pound baby born at 40 weeks Confused

I had a scan at 7+4 and was told I was 8 weeks, had a scan last week at 10 and was told I was 11, haven't actually had my official dating scan yet so who knows lol

MadameJosephine · 24/03/2019 20:49

Remember that the dates are based on the average baby so there will always be lots bigger and lots smaller

HJWT · 25/03/2019 19:21

@MadameJosephine yeah I know its funny how they don't alter it to accommodate though? Especially when you KNOw 100% when your last period was 😂

Oh well At least I can find out what the baby is a week earlier and go shopping if they say I'm 13 weeks at the '12 week scan' 😁

Ivf pregnancy (so no guesswork on dates). At 6+3 she measured 6+2. At 9+2 she measured 9+5. At 12+5 she measured 13+3. At 20+6, she measured 21+5.

Born weighing 6lb 9 oz at 40+5. So she slowed down somewhere along the way and is a right mini!!

@physicskate aw bless💗 my DD was 8 pounds 8 at 38 weeks 😬 xx

My DTs are ivf babies, so no guesswork on dates, and they measured ahead by a few days. At the last scan around 34/35 weeks they were said to be measuring 4/5lbs each, they came at 36+5 weighing 6.6lbs and 7.3lbs!

Yes! My dd, also an IVF (ICSI) baby measures at least a few days ahead on every scan. They knew to the minute when conception took place, so it goes to show that every baby is different. As it so happens she also reached all her major milestones early too - she smiled at 3 1/2 weeks old, and was walking (running!) by 11 months. She’s now 5 and a bright little button...and is also rather tall 😆

TwittleBee · 26/03/2019 16:13

Yes! DS was measuring ahead at the scans and then my fundal measurements were rocketing upwards ignoring the usual curves. DS was born 7lb1 at 37 weeks so goodness knows how big he would have got by 40 weeks!

Measuring spot on with this one though and actually not showing as much with this one either!

Thanks everyone 😁 midwife confirmed today the scan I had on Friday would of been accurate so changed me to 6 days ahead meaning I am 10 weeks 1 day! Feel like iv lost a week of my life 🤪

Yes, I was using ovulation tests and by twelve weeks she was already measuring 14+, by my 20 week scan (which was booked on the basis of being 14wks not 12wks) she'd added another 2 weeks, so it was my 18wks versus the scan saying 22. I had scans every 4 weeks and it always added half a week. I went into labour at 37 (so 35 by ovulation stick estimate) with an unusually strong girl, more than 8lbs, who is still on the 98th percentile at 7yo.

As I was high risk, there was a lot of back and forth about when to plan the section with her growing so fast.

HJWT · 27/03/2019 14:59

@LetsSplashMummy wow thats incredible... it makes me think because technically my DD was born at 37+4 going of my last period (scan said 38+4) and she was 8 Pound 8 almost 9 😁😂 xx

DD measured ahead (also IVF so no doubt on dates) but both me and her dad are tall. I on the other hand kept measuring small - which sort of made sense as she was just 3kg at birth (38wks and 4days).

BettyBigBollocks · 27/03/2019 15:30

Early scans before 12 weeks all accurate in terms of my last period etc.

Jumped ahead to 13+4 at 12 week scan and continued that way throughout, was still measuring over a week ahead (in my mind & earlier scans) at 36 weeks and was told baby was on 91st centile etc.

Arrived at 39weeks weighing 7lb3.

Kel801 · 27/03/2019 19:26

My lb was always ahead, about 2 weeks on scans after the 12 week scan (extra scans due to concerns) no doubt about dates as he was ivf. 10lb 8oz baby at 40 +12.
