OMG I just craved wine

Was scrolling through Instagram and a friend posted a picture of a glass of sauvignon blanc. Condensation on the glass so you know it's perfectly cold. My mouth is actually watering. I'm 21+3 so a long time to wait! Grrr. Anyone else missing a casual glass of wine or two?

You could have a small glass if you wanted.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 23/03/2019 17:37

The exact same thing happened to me in pregnancy except with red wine, which was surprising as I pretty much only drink white!. I cried! And rang my dad, for some reason, who told me to go and have one. So I did, and it wasn't half as nice as I thought it would be. Still finished it though Grin

MakeAWhish · 23/03/2019 17:38

@TheBabyAteMyBrain Yeah, and I would, but I fear it might just make me crave more!

@DrinkSangriaInThePark That's a good point actually - bet it wouldn't taste as good as my brain is telling me it would! I might go and get one of those mini bottles from Waitrose ....

I often crave a beer or a gin and tonic! I'm not a big drinker at all. I wonder if there's something psychological about it. We all want what we can't have!

EnjoyItAll · 23/03/2019 17:54

alcohol free wine?

AllStar14 · 23/03/2019 17:59

I craved jagerbombs when I was pregnant with my DD Blush

MakeAWhish · 23/03/2019 18:37

@EnjoyItAll have you ever tried alcohol free wine? It just doesn't compare I'm afraid! Only an ice cold glass of sauv blanc will do

@AllStar14 pahahahahaha! Now that is random!

I really really REALLY fancied a cigarette when pregnant with dd2.... I have only ever had a very small smoke of one when I was 15, never smoked before or since Grin

39Suzy · 23/03/2019 18:40

Have one.... it won't taste as good as you think and it will stop you craving it again !
White Sainsbury's own alcohol free wine and soda is ok at a push, not as sweet as normal non alcho wines

Nowthenforever2019 · 23/03/2019 18:42

I find dealcoholised wine is better than non alcoholic wine butI'm a beer drinker and there's a lot good non alcoholic beers to cheers from!

AuntMarch · 23/03/2019 18:46

I dreamt I had the perfect pint of Amstel and a cigarette recently. I was gutted I woke up before I finished them.
I get the urge in waves since about week 16 (now week 26). My dad had me hold is bottle of lager at a birthday do which triggered it because of the smell. Arsehole.

(I stopped smoking about 6 weeks before I fell pregnant incidentally. Not so for drinking, I was all inclusive in Spain the week before I found out 🙈)

MakeAWhish · 23/03/2019 20:45

Girls - it's damn good. I'm going to make this last.

Oh I'm really glad you had one! Enjoy!!!

OfDragonsDeep · 23/03/2019 22:11

I wish I hadn’t opened this thread. I want some too now Grin I’m only 17 weeks, I’ve promised myself a small glass at Easter weekend as I’ll be over 20 weeks by then.

7circlemats · 23/03/2019 22:23

I don't even like wine and I craved cold white wine during my last pregnancy 😂

MakeAWhish · 23/03/2019 23:27

It was soooo good! I bought one of those mini bottles and put it in the freezer so it was ice cold. It tasted as good as I thought it would - and one glass was enough! The 2 Mars ice-creams were unnecessary, though.

@OfDragonsDeep It will be worth the wait! Delicious.

Every time my DH has an alcoholic drink, I have a sip or two. It’s not nearly the same as my own glass, but at least I get to taste it, and it is very clear that I am not drinking too much!

thenightsky · 24/03/2019 00:26

Oh have one.

My DD is now 33 and top of her career thing. I had one glass every weekend of my pregnancy with her.

MrsBadCrumblesClarinet · 24/03/2019 08:38

I craved red wine at the end of my first pregnancy. Half a glass in the bath was a lovely way to relax!

I haven't fancied any this time around (37 weeks now) but did have a Prosecco once or twice at Christmas. 🥂
