I really really REALLY want eggs benedict...but the hollandaise sauce I'm not sure I can eat! I'm 15 weeks pregnant and some websites say yes, others say noConfused

If you make the sauce yourself from lion stamped eggs then it's fine

Mintypea5 · 22/03/2019 19:56

I believe you can eat it. The eggs will be lion stamped that are used to make it. The NHS website says that they should be safe as the risk of salmonella is low

Jarred hollandaise will also almost certainly be fine. They changed the rules on raw/runny eggs relatively recently so there's probably quite a lot of out of date information out there. Trust the NHS website!

I think this would be safe as it doesn't contain any raw egg, contains egg powder:

I'd definitely eat it. 🤷‍♀️

I've eaten hollandaise sauce on runny poached eggs a few times since being pregnant... almost all eggs in the UK now are red lion so it's safe! :)
