Pregnancy weight gain: what size before and after?

Feeling a bit self conscious today at my pregnancy weight gain and a little worried for my stomach's future! I thought I'd ask the question: what size were you before you got pregnant and what size did you go back to?

I'm currently 26+0, was a size 12 before I got pregnant and have so far put on about 19lbs. I was looking to lose some weight before I found out I was pregnant so went into this pregnancy already with some body confidence issues.

Please don't take this thread to be anything other than lighthearted and me trying to just get a bit of an idea of what my post baby body may do (this is my first).

I've put on a stone, in the process of losing it now that I've stopped breastfeeding. Its more the shape that's different, saggy tummy overhang and wider hips. I was a 14 before, now I'm a 16. I had awful SPD and didn't keep at all active which I'm sure didn't help.

Oh look mumsnet is explaining me, that's new!

No not other half, stupid mumsnet.

I had SPD too and ate loads of savoury snacks like twiglets to keep the preggo sickness at bay. I lost weight in 1st trimester which I think was due to giving up wine! Then I just grew a big spherical bump like a space hopper and the rest of my body stayed normal size although my rib cage broadened a bit and boobs grew a bit.
With no special diet or exercise other than a bit of dog walking my body went back to normal size on its own after. I know I'm really lucky. I do have a C sec scar and slight pouch but I don't care I just grew a baby !

Are you ok @Astrid0208 ?!

I went from a size 10 to a 12 after DS1 (I was 27) and from a 12 to a 14/16 after DS2 (I was 32). I have not made any proper effort to lose weight and didn't breastfeed breastfeed DS1 after 2 weeks or DS2 apart from day one. I've put on 1.5 stone since before DS1.

Should add, I didn't go back to normal fully until I stopped breastfeeding. Size before and after pregs is 8/10 top 10/12 bottom.

Put on about 25kg by the end, now back to just under booking in weight at 4 months pp. From a curvy 12 up to a 16/18 now back to a 12 apart from humunga boobs from BF so suspect have slimmer legs/bum than pre pregnancy as boobs are bigger an heavier as I can't seem to put baby down when they're actually empty...

I put on 4.5 stone with my first, 5,5 with my second. Both big babies granted but I was only 9.5 stone to start with, so around 50 per cent of my body weight. Was depressing. Unbelievably returned back to normal after 9 months both times. Was breastfeeding though. But still pretty extreme I felt!

b0bb1n · 22/03/2019 18:50

I was 6st 9 before, and at my last weigh in 4 weeks ago I was 9st 6!

ChanklyBore · 22/03/2019 18:52

I was an 8/10 before pregnancy. I weighed less after I gave birth than before I got pregnant. But I felt weak, flabby, and unhealthy, I was covered in stretch marks and angry about it. My bump went down like a balloon as baby exited, and was pretty flat very quickly. I haven’t actually weighed myself for a decade now so I can’t tell you what I weigh, I wear a 10/12 but I will say it’s about much more than numbers. How do you actually feel?

newlyfrugal · 22/03/2019 18:53

12 before and now I'm bigger than the moon Confused

JBCG · 22/03/2019 19:21

Thanks all! Appreciating the insight .. I know it's different for everyone and I can't expect the same experience as some of you .. but just thought I'd be abut nosey to try and give myself more of an idea of what to expect!!
