Has anybody ever had multiple false negatives?? Help!

I never ask things online so why not start with a weird one.

So as of today I'm 3 weeks late. I track my periods on an app, and I also track whenever I've had sex, and last month there was multiple times around when I should have been ovulating. I've done multiple tests - all negative, and I even went for my appointment today for my first smear test (I've just turned 25), and the nurse said because there's a possibility of pregnancy it's best to wait to do the smear.
She said she has seen women have negative tests until late into the pregnancy, which I've never personally heard of anybody I know experiencing.

I don't really have any "signs", I've been very tired lately, like really struggling to wake up and feeling tired during the day but I don't feel like it's particularly unusual. But there are 2 things I've noticed which saying outloud I feel like makes me sound insane so I'm kinda hoping someone else has experienced.

Firstly, I keep smelling popcorn!? I think the smell is on me but I can't work it out, it's bizarre, and probably just me thinking way too much into it.
Secondly is my dog. I feel like this makes me sound insane but the past few days, maybe a week, my dog has been acting weird. He's being really protective of me, he won't let people get too close, he's even been growling at people for coming too near me and he will stand in the middle of me and another person to stop them coming close to me. He's always been kind of clingy to me but this has been weird. I don't know if dogs can sense things but it's definitely weird...

So my question really is has anybody experienced anything like this!? Especially having multiple false negative tests?? Am I just looking way too deep into this and my body has just had a glitch and decided to skip this month??

Any help is appreciated!!

I think it's very rare but could happen I suppose. Although much more likely your body has just missed a period, there are endless reasons this could happen.

Get an appointment with your GP to confirm

I had multiple negatives and only got a positive when I thought my period was 19 days late. Scan later showed I was 2.5 weeks behind so I had actually ovulated late and when I thought my period was 19 days late it was more like 3-4 days late because of the late ovulation. 22 weeks now and all going well. So it does happen.

Yup same as PP I thought I was nearly a whole cycle late and kept getting negatives. When I did get s bfp I thought I was 8 weeks but only about 5. So just ovulated late. 32 weeks now and have had a very easy time so far!

I had quite a few with my first then went to docs and their test was positive

Are your periods ever delayed usually, have you ever skipped a month before? Or being dieting? Stressed? Etc. I've only ever experienced a late period of about 5 days max, 3 weeks is a lot so perhaps you did ovulate late?! Also what tests have you done? If they're cheapys maybe not so sensitive as a first response? My husbands parents cat peed where I'd slept once (never ever has done that before) when I was pregnant and always acted weird around me, I do think there is something in animals sensing pregnancy. It's hard to tell with early pregnancy symptoms as they are so similar to period symptoms. I hope you get your positive test soon. X

Yes I had false negative tests with 2 out of 3 of my DC one of them was negative until I was 10 weeks and even had a period in that time. and the other was negative until 6 weeks and then flashed as positive but went back to negative. I definitely must have brought boots out of pregnancy tests both times Grin had no symptoms but just felt ‘different’ and I had pigment spots on my face (only get them when pg)

I'm no help with the false negatives (sorry!) but similar with the dog thing.

My mum's dog (who is normally really fussy over me but soon calms down and goes to other people) has been extremely fussy over me and protective. Like while I'm around she doesn't leave my side - stops eating her dinner to check I'm still there before going back to it.

We hadn't really thought much of it until finding out we were expecting then everyone seemed to notice and attribute it to the pregnancy and her having sensed it long before any of us!
