Positive test 8 years after an ectopic

Hey, I have found out today I am pregnant. This is the first positive test after having an ectopic pregnancy 8 years ago. I'm over the the moon but incredibly anxious at the same time. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience with it being such a long time between pregnancies 🤔

Congratulations! I don't have any experience of this myself but I do have a friend that had an ectopic pregnancy then had a 10 year gap until her next pregnancy. She's had two babies now, no issues with either pregnancy.

Thanks! That's definitely reassuring, just haven't come across many stories with such a long gap 😁

Hi 👋
I got a positive test NYE just gone, 5 1/2 years after a ruptured ectopic.
Needless to say, I was thrilled but incredibly anxious just in case this pregnancy ended the same way. I called my nearest early pregnancy unit and they booked me in for an early scan as soon as they thought they would be able to see if the pregnancy was viable and in the right place - about 7 weeks by my lmp dates.
It was a stressful time, but at that scam they did find the sack exactly where it was supposed to be, and even saw a lovely strong heartbeat. I'm now 16 weeks and looking forward to my 20 week scan soon.
I'd say get yourself booked in for an early scan and try not to worry too much in the meantime... even though I'm sure you will.
Good luck, x

*scan 🙄

That's brilliant news congrats! I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow so hopefully they should get me in for an early scan, fingers crossed eh!

Did they get you booked in for an early scan? If by any chance they were being unreasonable in some areas you can self refer to an EPU (I went straight to mine for example)

Lolly87 · 22/03/2019 21:42

I had a doctors appointment this morning and they referred me for an early scan should have a letter through sometime next week, they gave me a number to self refer with the midwife, have to wait until Monday to call them as you can only call between 1300 and 1500 for some reason 🤔

I'll call epu and ask them about it though if there's a chance I could be seen sooner!

Ah, great, glad they've got you sorted. Certainly try them but I think you have to be around 7 weeks by your LMP before they think they'll be able to see anything. Just be aware of anything that could be a sign of ectopic, but to be honest, really early on, about 5 weeks I was pretty certain everything was ok with this one as it felt so different to my ectopic. Try not to worry too much and enjoy everything x

I said the same thing to my partner last night, I felt different than the last time, I actually allowed myself to get excited! I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday so least I'll find out soon x

Firstly congratulations 😊

Secondly, I had a ruptured ectopic in 2006, and then my Dd 8.5 years later after unexplained fertility.

Thank you, so reassuring to hear that and congratulations to you too ☺️ x
