Cramping and tiny amount of spotting

Hi guys, I'm really worried!

I had my first midwife appointment today and all was going well until I had to have a blood test. I'm not good with blood tests at all and although it was over quickly I felt very faint afterwards and almost passed out. I managed to get to the car with the help of my husband but then threw up on the way home. I felt absolutely fine after that.

That was at 1.30pm and then at 9.30pm I started getting cramps as if I was going to come on my period (I'm 6 weeks 2 days) I went to the toilet and noticed the smallest and I mean smallest amount of pink discharge. I've been to the toilet since and there's nothing there but I do still have cramps. I'm so scared that my reaction to the blood test may have caused a problem with the baby and worse case scenario a miscarriage. Hubby is working lates so I'm home alone until 1am!

I'm trying to tell myself it's probably nothing but could do with a bit of reassurance!!

Ok, I know how you feel!
I got spotting at 5 weeks (like the tiniest bit of discolouration) it's ok. It's called Something like 'implantation' or something 🙄
Stressing is not good for you or little one. (Although I was paranoid the whole first trimester!)
Phone the hospital midwife units if your really worried. They should be able to help, even if it is to put your mind at rest. Take care lovely ❤️

So I went to the doctors today to get myself checked out and it turns out I have a urine infection! I've been given 7 days worth of antibiotics (doctors confirmed they're safe to take). Panic over!

Glad you’ve had your worries relieved with the diagnosis of a UTI (not that that’s a pleasant thing to have of course). I was going to post a reply to say that I had a couple of episodes of bleeding between 6-7 weeks which freaked me out the first time and, after the second time, I had a think and realised both episodes were within a few hours of opening my bowels (I was a bit constipated in the early weeks) and likely to be linked. I made sure I upped my fresh acidic fruits and had a few tinned prunes each day to reduce the risk of more constipation or bleeds!! Fingers crossed, all has been well for the last 5 weeks!!

So I took the first antibiotic last night with dinner and felt so much happier and less afraid... until around midnight when I woke up needing a wee and there was quite a lot of watery brown discharge on the toilet paper. I woke up an additional two times for a wee and each time it was still there and still there this morning.

The doctor did say I may experience some brown spotting when I wipe but it's still really unnerved me! Did anyone else can brown spotting with a UTI during pregnancy?

Sorry, I feel like I'm constantly asking questions I'm just so paranoid that something is wrong.

twodogs try and relax. I had spotting wity my third. It may be old blood or your body just clearing stuff out. How far are you?

If your past six weeks you could pop in to a private scan studio and they should be able find a heart beat. They are quite easy to find even at that stage

I think they only get concerned when it’s ‘fresh’ blood eg. Bright red.

Hello @twodogsandcounting, I didn't have a UTI but I did have a little bit of blood loss as you've explained, which was followed by a couple of days of brown discharge intermittently. The midwife assured me it was nothing to worry about and very common.

If you lose large amounts of red blood or clots, get yourself checked out xx

Thanks all. I'm approximately 6 weeks and 5 days.

I am really tempted to pay for the private scan just to put my mind at ease. I just want to know what's going on.

I really thought pregnancy would be exciting, I fully expected morning sickness and tiredness but this isn't what I thought it would be at all. It's terrifying and my anxiety is through the roof!

two pregnancy is definitely a rollercoaster!!

Book in for a private scan. A reassurance scan is really quick and not expensive.

Congratulations by the way!
