I am 29 weeks and nobody has even mentioned them to me yet.

I did ask about a month ago and was told it was too early to even think about it?

When have you all started them.

I rang up the antenatal clinic at my hospital when I was 29 weeks as I hadn't heard anything either - the receptionist booked meo on to a course starting when I was 34 weeks. Maybe give your hospital/midwife a ring and see if you need to be booked on?

BTW nobody told me I needed to book myself on - I thought I'd get some info through the post or something, but never did, hence the phone call to the hospital. I think my midwives forgot

I didn't think I had to do anything, just thought it would be sorted out by Midwife etc.

I am abit concerned as most of the advertised clubs seem to be cancelled for August and my baby is due in Sept. Surely they can't cancel birthing classes and breastfeeding classes??

I'm not sure - is probably down to the local PCT/hospitals. I know that the Helath Visitors used to do a Parentcraft session at my local hospital, but for some reason they've pulled out, and don't do it any more. Hmm.

Your MW should definitely be able to point you towards some sort of antenatal support/classes though.

Hi cupcake - I am 28+5 and done mine already but I was very early and not the norm. It was just that my midwive had them pencilled in and I thought I would jump on them as she had no others scheduled for later aug/sept. Most of the ladies on my class were much further along than me (some about to pop) but I was glad I went when I did as some of the discussions lead to me getting myself on a hynobirthing course which i am glad to be doing around the 32 week mark.

if the ones at your hospital are cancelled, are there any private ones you can attend locally?

I started mine at 27 weeks, it was either that or 2 weeks before I was due, and considering they went on for 5 weeks it was a bit too late. If I were you I'd call your MW and ask her. Mine seemed very shocked when at 26 weeks she asked me if I'd booked them and I said no, that was the first I'd heard of them. Even though she would have been the one that would have booked me in.....

I'm doing an NCT course at the moment and they started when I was 31 weeks and last for 5 weeks. I had booked them by the time I was 20 weeks though as I know they get fully booked really quickly.

Good job I did really as my crappy community midwife just asked me what I was doing about parentcraft classes - isn't that the sort of information you're supposed to provided me with ????
