Hi there

I am currently pregnant and abit concerned about toxoplasmosis we I ate some broccoli that I can’t remember if I washed or not before (steaming) baby brain!!

It wa simply steamed for 6 minutes or so - if it was infected would this be long enough to kill any parasites? X

Steaming would kill it.
I thought most people had it before adulthood, too.

Steaming would definitely kill it.

What does 'washing' mean, anyway? Soap & hot water? Not sure that works with salad.

I thought 'washing' vegetables or fruit just meant a rinse to get dirt off.

Well yes exactly - Otherwise it goes soggy. I haven’t ate much salad so far but just panicked about the broccoli and hope the steaming would kill it. The internet mentioned a lot about boiling but not steaming x
