www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/itching-obstetric-cholestasis-pregnant/

This is a good link that may help as it sounds like you have OC, they will keep a close eye and can treat with medication to keep LO in as long as possible. I had it with my second & induced at 37, lots of extra monitoring of baby & scans.

GetHappy · 20/03/2019 17:51

Currently on my second OC pregnancy, if you are on Facebook join ICP Support they are really helpful

Hopefully they will put you on medication. For me this helps, for others it don’t. But hopefully for you it will.

They will most likely induce but if you levels don’t go too high it might not be until 38/39 weeks

Hi OP ! I have ICP over 14 is high I think but anything under 100 is manageable and should not be serious. Are you on Urso ? This can help bring levels down , good you are having weekly tests

B0bb · 20/03/2019 18:18

Can I ask what does the itching feel like? I'm only 19 weeks nearly 20 weeks pregnant and last night I had an itchy hand while cooking. Didn't pay any attention to it. Then this morning slight itching and again this evening. It feels like a tingling sensation to me when I itch? I did ring my doctor today but she said monitor it but she said I'd expect you to have it on both palms and feet or your body too. I did text my midwife but she's on leave this week.

GetHappy · 20/03/2019 18:21

Everyone’s itches are different but if it is something your noticing than push for a blood test. Some clinicians are reluctant to do this but trust your instinct

B0bb · 20/03/2019 18:25

@GetHappy thanks. I may do.

It's not major but I didn't click till this morning from what my midwife said a while ago about itchy feet and hands.

I'd just like a blood test for peace of mind

sofasandcoffeetables · 20/03/2019 18:27

Itching could be mild or really burning, often worse at night.

This time around I am having weekly OC bloods and levels are only 8 at the moment, but had lots of extra checks.

Write lots of questions down for your appointment and if worried in between about anything just go in.

B0bb · 20/03/2019 18:30

@sofasandcoffeetables I see ok.

I just find it strange how it's one palm and not two??

Thanks I will investigate and phone up.

Banwell32 · 20/03/2019 21:56

My itching started on my arms and spread, palms and soles of feet were the last places, it was worst at night. Urso controlled it for me although everyone I saw seemed to suggest a different dose! My BA levels never went above 18. I would have been induced at 40 weeks but she arrived naturally at 38 weeks.
I definitely agree with looking up ICP support, their website and FB page.

Valkarie · 20/03/2019 22:17

It's not fun to have extra monitoring etc, but you can reassure yourself that it has been picked up and you are being monitored. It is one of the more common pregnancy conditions, so there is lots of info out there. You are unlikely to be going past 38 weeks without being induced. The itching can be hideous and people don't necessarily understand if they have not experienced it. I found that oatmeal baths helped.

Banwell32 · 22/03/2019 11:20

Thankyou I will have to try it itching was so bad last night I’m red raw from scratching
