Growth scan

Hi, iv been referred by the midwife for a growth scan this afternoon and I'm really anxious about it!
She said baby hasn't grown much since I was last measured but she is sure he's ok but it's just a precaution??
Has anyone been in a similar position? So far i have had a fairly easy pregnancy so this has made me worry tenfold!
Is it the same as the 20 week scan? What can I expect?
TIA x

Try not to worry. I had a growth scan around 34 weeks or so as my bump was measuring smaller. Like you had a night full of worry, but the scan itself only took a couple of minutes and all was fine. A different midwife had measured me and think the bump measurements are very unreliable - she must have started at a different spot than the usual midwife! Hopefully all is well and it is just a chance to see your happy healthy baby again. Let us know how it goes xx

I'm also 34 weeks, and have been measured by three different midwives so far! Maybe that's the problem. I'm sure all will be well but you just can't help but worry can you

My appointment isn't until 1630hrs so I'm just sitting around letting my imagination get the better of me. I will keep you updated

Ive been having fortnightly growth scans since 28 weeks. As someone else mentioned, it’s kinda like a normal scan but they literally just measure parts of the baby (so in my experience thigh bone, head circumference, and waist circumference). They will also measure the depth of your waters which will give them an estimated weight of baby. They generally also check the blood flow to the cord and brain to check everything is flowing nicely as that can affect growth. They will then check you have a follow up appointment to discuss the results. They’re generally quite quick.
Hope it goes well and your little one is behaving better than mine Grin
