Clear blue Tests false positives

On the 13th of March I took a Clear Blue Early detection test and sure enough two lines came up (one was faint but still there) the next morning on the 14th March I took a Clear Blue Digital year which confirmed that I was Pregnant and concieved 1-2 weeks ago. Yesterday evening I went to hospital due to some bleeding as was very scared. To then be tested and told I wasn’t pregnant. This has really shown me how awful these tests are, the doctors couldn’t tell me if they though I had miscarried very early on but they said it’s very rare for two tests to be false positives. It has really destroyed me and my partner giving us false hope. In future I urge people not to use Clear Blue and just go to doctors to confirm things.

But here you are making a thread about how awful the tests are?

It must be very upsetting to have that disappointment but it seems a lot more likely that you experienced a chemical pregnancy than two false positives surely?

peasando · 17/03/2019 08:45

I'm so sorry you went through this but it sounds more like a CP - false positives are very rare, especially with digis. Hugs Thanks

The doctors test with the same type testing kits we can buy, a lot of doctors won’t even test - so that likely wouldn’t have made any difference to your situation OP.
I’m sorry you’re going through this, sounds more like a chemical followed by your period.

NannyPear · 17/03/2019 11:08

It's more a case of urging women not to test early in case of the disappointment of chemical pregnancies.

Sorry to hear you had this experience.

I think early detection tests are bloody awful. Chemical pregnancies are very common.

Cookit · 17/03/2019 13:10

I’m sorry OP but sounds like a chemical rather than faulty tests.

As others have said the doctors won’t confirm a pregnancy these days. They will just tell you to go and take a HPT and take your word for it if you tell them you are pregnant. It does sound like a chemical pregnancy and I’m sorry you had to go through this (I had one in October).

Given that it's believed up to half of conceptions result in a chemical pregnancy, it's extremely likely that's what has happened. And thousands of women are taking pregnancy tests each week. Of course the GP can't confirm. It's a waste of resources.

I know how tough ttc can be but what you have experienced is an early loss, not a raising of hopes by inaccurate tests. Look after yourself and your partner. It's desperately upsetting I know.
