What are the chances he will arrive before 40 weeks? First baby. And I am getting bored and impatient waiting to see him! :)

Very unlikely. Try to think to yourself that your not due for at least 18 days. Many countries say full term is 41 or even 42 weeks because that is when babies are more likely to be born.

Oh dear not what I wanted to hear! But it's better to be realistic I suppose. Thanks. :) I wonder also if it's hereditary at all, ie if my mum had late babies mine are likely to be late. She had 4 kids tho and I think it varied for us all.

Not to get your hopes up but my DC1 arrived at 39+1. DH had tried to do a handover at work the week before but his boss insisted it wasn't necessary as first babies are never early. He was surprised to get a phone call saying DH was starting paternity leave!

CaseofEllen · 17/03/2019 15:34

I'm 39+3 and no signs yet! Not getting my hopes up for an early or even on time arrival.

Embracethechaos · 17/03/2019 15:44

I'm not sure very unlikely is true. I can't remember to statistic exactly from NCT but I think it was first time babies coming between 39-40 weeks and 40-41 weeks was very similar latter being slightly higher and less than 5% on their due date. Here it says most babies arrive in the 39th week. Good luck. I've got one bub and missed the annoying waiting stage as she surprised me by arriving at 36+5 and I know a couple of other mums who's babies were born a similar time and a couple of real premmies. And I don't know 100s of mum.

My dc1 was born at 39+2!

Embracethechaos · 17/03/2019 15:48

Also, my mum's first 3 (girls) were early, all around 37 weeks then the youngest and a boy was late at 42! So I think it might be hereditary as our labour was simular, waters breaking before contractions and not really going into labour so having the drip part of induction.

I’ve got ten days til my due date and am the opposite of you - hoping the baby stays in longer so I can sleep and do all the jobs I’ve been saving for mat leave !

CaseofEllen · 17/03/2019 16:00

Anyone who's had their DC want to share any symptoms they had a day or so before labour? Clutching at straws here Blush----

sacrecoeur0712 · 17/03/2019 16:22

@CaseofEllen I didn't really have any symptoms apart from feeling restless and irritable (although probably would have felt like that anyway). First sign was waters breaking with a huge gush - I didn't lose my plug until in established labour.

MissMini · 18/03/2019 03:50

I’m now 3 days late with my 1st but it seems like everyone around me has gone earlier!! I think it depends on how accurate your dates are - when I worked it out I thought I was due the 21st so always assumed I’d be late when they said due a week earlier! Good luck - the wait is irritating!
