Sleeping on side

Ooookay!
(I'm a notorious stomach sleeper...)
But every night i wedge myself between so many pillows and fall asleep comfortably on my left side, but every single time i wake up I'm on my stomach!
Have you ladies found any magic ways of staying on your side?? I know I'm only 14 weeks, but I'm hoping to start the habit now before bump gets too big!!
Have you found any holy grail of pregnancy pillows?
Give me all your hacks!

Following with interest. I am 25 weeks today and have a fairly big bump - I keep waking up on my back now it's not so possible to wake up on my front!

I wouldn’t worry about waking up on your front, it’s from the third trimester but also you won’t be able to sleep on your front by then anyway 😂 they just want you to start sleeping on your side, if you wake up on your back that’s ok too as long as you go back to sleep on your side. I have a pillow behind me to stop me rolling onto my back, so I’m sort of “wedged” xx

I bought two pregnancy pillows but I find a normal pillow between my legs works best for me. I also sleep on 3 pillows stacked up quote high so I’m up at an angle.

Slightly off topic but I also have a single duvet under my sheet for extra cushion to help with the sore hips which may appear soon and make it even harder to sleep!

Possibly my biggest pregnancy regret is starting to sleep on my side before I had to.
(I've always been a front sleeper too.) It hasn't made sleeping in that position any easier and it's so uncomfortable that I can only sleep for an hour or so before I need to roll over. All I've really achieved is an extra 4 months of insomnia.

I do like my dreamgenii but I have to supplement it with extra pillows. That way I can build it up high enough in front that I'm leaning slightly forward and taking the pressure off my bottom leg, without putting any on my bump. (I'm now 36+6) It's a bit like pillow Tetris, getting everything in the right place...

Oh and @Mikewazowskismrs, I see your single duvet and raise you three doubles, folded over. My side of the bed is now about 6 inches higher than DH's. 😂

Mikewazowskismrs · 16/03/2019 09:17

@ChaosMoon bloody hell 😂 getting in and out of bed is a military operation for me as it is never mind that !

ChaosMoon · 16/03/2019 09:20

Tell me about it @Mikewazowskismrs! I feel like the princess and the pea, needing a ladder to get into bed. 😂

"Luckily" I have a bed-hogging boyfriend who curls up like a croissant & thus provides a pillow-like wedge on one side with his bum. On the other, I have my dreamgenii pillow, which is pushed right up against the bedside crib that we've bought too early. There's literally no room to turn on to my back or front!

(To go for a wee, I have to perform a ninja-like flip, using boyfriend's bum as a hoist/vaulting horse, on to all fours. Then back down to the end of the bed while he sleepily says "Beep beep beep, this lorry is reversing".)

I’m a front sleeper too and I still wedge myself into a forward diagonal (if that makes any sense) with pillow under front leg. Basically you just can’t go on your front after a while, so don’t worry - you’ll find something that works!
