Irregular gestational sac, slow heart beat - help!

Hi ladies,

I've had multiple missed miscarriages in the past and am now 6 weeks 1 day pregnant. I had an early scan today and the sonographer gave me very mixed news.

After being quiet for what felt like an eternity, she said the heart beat is roughly 100 beats per minute, which she said she thought was slow, and she said the gestational sac is an irregular shape - 29 mm by 17 mm by 16 mm. The CRL was 3.3 mm.

I looked online and 100 beats per minute seems within range for 6 weeks, but can't see much on gestational sac size.

Did anyone else have this news about heartbeat or gestational sac shape?! Xx

I had a scan at 6 weeks and was told the sac was small so was booked in for another scan at 9 weeks. I saw a consultant at 9 weeks who asked why I was there and when I mentioned about the sac being small at 6 weeks she was surprised and told me that as long as there is a heartbeat all is fine and sac size doesn't really matter. She did the scan anyway and was right, it was all fine. DS was born small and is still titchy now at 2.5 but I doubt that has anything to do with sac size.

I can't remember what the CRL or heartbeat was though.

Fingers crossed for you. Early pregnancy is a worrying time.

I had a scan at 7+4 and the heart rate was only 80bpm and sac was measuring small. It didn't end well for me, but I always find the measurements quite strange as even a mm can make such a difference at that stage.

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to update everyone, I had a sudden bleed on Monday which then stopped and then followed up with a scan today. The gestational sac is now hour glass shaped, so much so they thought there were two. The poor little bean has grown to 8mm and there looked like a flicker of a heart beat but it was right in the narrow part of the hour glass, it was hard to tell for sure.

Doctors have said it looks like the gestational sac is collapsing and I should prepare for miscarriage. They've said I can stop taking progesterone and that will speed things up a bit.
