St Mary's Hospital vs. UCLH

Hi,

I know that there are some previous discussions about which maternity to choose in London, but most that I read are outdated.

I'm new to London and I'm in my first pregnancy. I would love to hear recent feedback from women who gave birth at St Mary and/or UCLH. I need to choose an option for my first midwife appointment, which I should have in a couple of weeks.

I read positive reviews of UCLH, but a common complaint seems to be that it can be very full and they can turn woman away during labor. In fact, I read a woman who gave birth on the street after being turned away from UCLH as she was "early" in labor - so scary!! It is such an overwhelming choice, especially not being English. Any information helps!

Thank you!

I've not given birth yet but I've received my antenatal care at St Mary's and have no complaints at all so far. I have heard good things about UCLH but, for me, distance (and traffic...) was a key consideration so we went with St Mary's in the end. They have a very nice birth unit which I've seen briefly although I've requested an elective c section so won't be able to use it.
