8 weeks and exhausted

I'm 8 weeks and so so tired! I do a primarily desk based job so not physically intense at all but still by the end of the day I'm white as a sheet, shakey, bloodshot eyes and going to bed at the same time as my 4 year old! Am off work today to try and recoup a bit but feeling like an idiot being off work because I'm tired! Anyone else in the same boat or have any tips?!

I’m the same, fortunately I’m not working anymore (was a nanny) they made me redundant when they found out I was pregnant. Got to love some people.
I’m 8+3 and struggling to get out of bed, I have to as have a puppy. By 12 I’m done, fall a sleep by 1 and sometimes I don’t wake until about 4.
Everyone said it is just first trimester, but along with the nausea, have had enough already.
Sorry no solution.

This is very common - your body is using all of it's energy to grow a human! Listen to your body, sleep when you need and eat what you fancy - especially high energy foods and proteins. Let your midwife know just in case she wants to test for anything, being usually pale could be a sign of anaemia.
I found it does get easier after around 12 weeks.
Try not to be hard on yourself and go with it for now.

Hi OP,

You have my sympathy! I'm 8+3 and absolutely wiped out. I'm working from home as my very kind boss has said he doesn't want to see me in the office until I'm further on and feeling better (am extremely fortunate, I know.) But I'm only managing to work a few hours each day. I'm sleeping very badly, I've never had insomnia before and it's rubbish! I just feel totally drained. Napping most days but never for long enough. I look ghastly, ashen faced and bleary eyed.

This is a longed for pregnancy, the result of many years of trying and IVF, and I never expected to feel so shite! Thrilled that I'm finally pregnant but can't wait to reach 12 weeks and hopefully start to feel human again!

Thanks all. I'm quite grateful for the symptoms because I know it means the baby is growing but it is hard to list to my body when my body is supposed to be at work! I haven't had a midwife appointment yet, am expecting that around 10 weeks according to my GP and looking forward to that :)

I keep telling myself that this is all a good sign. I miscarried last year and my symptoms totally disappeared at 5 weeks. So I am glad to have them, just wish I didn’t feel so rubbish

I’m in the same boat- 10 weeks tomorrow but still feel very off and going to bed when I put my 4yo down at 7:30!
I’m sure I wasn’t like this last time!
If it’s any conciliation the sickness feeling isn’t bothering me as much now, I’ve stopped eating big meals and just grazing.
I keep telling myself it will be gone by my 12 week scan so just focusing on that!
As hard as it is weirdly grateful for the symptoms after a mc last year.
