Maternal choice elective section in NI?

Has anyone any experience of requesting an elective C-section for their first baby in Northern Ireland? Do hospitals here follow NICE guidelines? How difficult was it and did the hospital agree to it?

@Fromtheinside80 I'm due DC2 in 2.5weeks and after a forcep delivery with DS I told my consultant I was considering requesting an ELCS as I didnt want a repeat of it and the high anxiety I now have.

Initially he starts rambling about difficulties he was having with a mum suffering from blood clots after her ELCS Hmm

But he then offers to arrange an appointment with the consultant midwife to go through DS's notes regarding the labour. Which I gladly accepted (It's this Thurs at 37+6 weeks Confused )

He then said the decision wasn't up to him - I thought you're the consultant who on earth else would I have to go through?!!
But he said "ultimately it's your decision we want baby born as safely as possible" but they want me to happy with delivery too! I think if I insisted on ELCS he would agree to it.

However I think it's completely luck of the draw what consultant you get. The midwives were really good and advised me of the consultants who listened to the mother's wishes. I think as NICE are guidelines some hospitals may not necessarily follow them

(I'm not entirely convinced I want an elcs now but I will know better after Thursday).

Out of interest @Angelmiracle do you mind me asking what hospital that's at?

Antrim Area.
I met with consultant midwife there today who has invited DH and I for visit in delivery suite to review a birth plan (she's very pro natural labour).

I then had growth scan this afternoon. The senior registrar has also told me if I want an ELCS they will book me in next week (39 weeks) or if I haven't decided and I'm 40 weeks they'll still book me one. Really didn't have to put up a fight! They would rather CS was booked than showing up in labour having a panic attack then doing an unplanned one.
