no its odd

funnypeculiar · 09/07/2007 13:16

Yours are better.
Of course.

NAB3 · 09/07/2007 13:16

Whether it is a good name or not I feel you have to both agree and be happy with what you choose. You aren't so you both need to think again. Maybe suggest something really ridiculous so Harry/Max sound fabulous.

tiredemma · 09/07/2007 13:17

Troy is not a fave of mine.

(Harry is! Ds1 is HArry!)

bobsmum · 09/07/2007 13:17

Tempest?

Not a good name.

tissy · 09/07/2007 13:17

Don't like it myslef. Can't you have it as a middle name, and hide it away?

funnypeculiar · 09/07/2007 13:18

(Agree with NAB3, btw - dd's name was more dh's choise than mine, and I STILL slightly regret it...

sweetkitty · 09/07/2007 13:18

I personally don't like Troy either and I know a Troy and it doesn't suit him little rough and tumble boy.

Prefer Harry TBH it's so hard trying to agree on a name isn't it?

Slubberdegullion · 09/07/2007 13:18

I like your choices. Please vito Troy.

doughnuts · 09/07/2007 13:19

yes, Troy Tempest ! Have it as a middle name as a compromise ! Max is nice. There are quite a lot of Harrys still around though.

SecondhandRose · 09/07/2007 13:20

Isn't that the name of the gorgeous plastic surgeon in the US thing with Joely Richardson?

Stargazing · 09/07/2007 13:21

love Max, ambivalent about Harry, hate Troy. What is it with these blokes? Mine kept going on about the name Stanley!! Stanley, I ask you!

doughnuts · 09/07/2007 13:28

what is it with old blokes names - eg Stanley ?

Stargazing · 09/07/2007 13:32

I know! awful. He justified it on the basis of the link to Stanley knives - he kept saying "Stanley! Sharpest tool in the box!" to me, over and over, as if that was going to convince me. Wally.

hotcrumpets · 09/07/2007 13:35

DP does that with Troy

"But like Troy Bayliss, he's really cool"

um no

Troy sounds a bit porn star - ish....

hotcrumpets · 09/07/2007 13:48

I knew it was horrible, it sounds really hard (not in a tough kind of way) to me.

I will show dp the thread when he comes in, this should convince him

Miaou · 09/07/2007 13:59

Don't like Troy - the others are fine

(now come and add your opinion to my name thread please

tortoiseSHELL · 09/07/2007 14:01

Troy is the name of Laura Palmer's horse in Twin Peaks.

Harry and Max are both great names!

cupcake78 · 09/07/2007 14:04

Troy

It just reminds me of The Battle of Troy.

Please don't call your baby after a Battle. If DP insists on it then you could suggest Waterloo, Falklands etc for a middle name .

Your names are lovely, stick with them!!!

mummydoit · 09/07/2007 14:04

Another vote against Troy here. I'd be very cautious about giving a boy an unusual name. With girls you can get away with being creative but I like to stick with traditional for boys. You don't want the poor lad picked on at school. Harry and Max are both good. I've come across more Harrys than Maxes so I'd probably plump for Max because of that but they are both nice names.
