Chicken pox!

So DD has a case of the chicken pox and I'm 20 weeks pregnant! I've read all the advice about pregnancy and chicken pox etc and can thankfully say I had it as a child however just that worry lingers with me now I'm pregnant! Has anyone ever experienced being pregnant with the pox or around others who have the pox whilst pregnant and catching it/not catching it. Just looking for some advice and reassurance. Thanks :)

Yes, I called the hospital after being exposed. They said there was no risk aa they check for immunitity in the early stages and it would have been flagged if you weren't. Baby is protected by your immunity so don't worry. You can always call to put your mind at ease though.

If you had it as a child then you are most likely absolutely fine. If you want peace of mind, ring the hospital and see if it was done as part of your initial bloods, if it wasn't, ask for it to be added on...They store all bloods so it's easy for them to do this.

My DS has chicken pox at Christmas when I was 20 weeks (now 32 weeks). I had it as a child but checked in with midwife who said because I had already had it was nothing to worry about unless I became unwell myself. I didn't and everything seems well with DS2!

I hope your DD gets better quickly OP.

My eldest had chicken pox when I was pregnant with child 2. I'd had it as a child. All was well. Child 2 is now a strapping 13 year old boy taller than me- and I'm not short!!😂

I was exposed to chicken pox just before I found out I was expecting dc2. Midwife confirmed if I’d had them as a child then everything would be ok.
