I got my first ever BFP this morning! Excited and terrified. I tested last Sunday, got nothing and resolved myself for AF to appear mid-week. No sign of her, had lower back pain, sore boobs, nausea and a quick dizzy spell and thought it was time to re-test! Got a ridiculously strong line (but will still be put getting a few more brands to make sure). DH and I have been TTC since around Christmas after I came off the pill - both 30. Obviously it's very early days but we're every pleased!

Anyone else due a first baby mid November? It'd be great to chat.

@Chanel05 I don't think I want to at this stage. DP not worried either way so think it will remain a secret unless I change my mind!

Really sore boobs (my nipples in particular are agony!) and odd waves of mild nausea. Only very mild though and not feeling like I'll actually be sick. It was weird at work today, I was suddenly conscious of what I was doing as if I was wearing a big sign that said 'I'm pregnant' Blush

DoubtOfTheOrdinary · 12/03/2019 06:30

Ooh can I join? 😊 I think I'll be due around November 10th. I don't have any real symptoms to speak of so am obsessively POAS every few days to convince myself it's real! The only things I might consider symptoms are (TMI sorry) increased discharge and a bit of constipation. Sore boobs only lasted a couple days and then disappeared, fingers crossed that's not a bad sign!

olderthanyouthink · 12/03/2019 06:47

Awww, sorry not butting in but I was in you guys' position last year crapping myself because it was an accident, just want to wish you all luck!

(Found got my BFP a year on Friday, LMP due date was 19th Nov, scan due date was 17th, DD showed up on 16th)

T1ff4ny · 12/03/2019 07:02

@dottydally I was like that at work yesterday too! I had to buy myself some snacks as I was so hungry and I never snack and I thought to myself they're on to me!!

Congrats @DoubtOfTheOrdinary !! How exciting!

Thanks @olderthanyouthink nice to have some extra moral support and positivity!!

Chanel05 · 12/03/2019 08:02

@dottydally I know it makes you want to tell everyone possible 😂 still a way to go yet before that point.

@DoubtOfTheOrdinary welcome! How far along are you?

KatieKat88 · 12/03/2019 22:01

Thanks @olderthanyouthink, hope life as a mum is going well! Hope everyone's feeling ok!

Morning ladies, how are we all feeling today? Anyone else been waking up in the middle of the night? The last 4 nights I've woken up at 3.30am - not sure if it's just the noisy wind or a genuine symptom!! Gives me lots of time to think about the little bean tho (although that's literally all I'm doing during the day too!).
Also, had to wear one of my yoga bras to work today as had to loosen my usual underwired one twice yesterday as it was so painful!!
Hope you're all feeling ok 😀

DoubtOfTheOrdinary · 13/03/2019 07:47

Thanks @T1ff4ny and @Chanel05!
I think I'm about 5 weeks along but I have a slightly irregular cycle so not 100% sure.
Starting to feel anxious about not really having any symptoms 😣 I know some women just dont get them, but thinking about getting a reassurance scan in a few weeks if I don't start feeling anything.
Have you all told people yet??

T1ff4ny · 13/03/2019 07:54

@DoubtOfTheOrdinary I'm sure it's perfectly normal - from what I've read every pregnancy is different and every person gets symptoms at different times. The only person we've told is my sister, she has had four pregnancies and was surprised I was getting symptoms this early as she didn't get anything until much later! It was so nice to tell her as nice to have one other person to talk to - especially another girl who understands!

dottydally · 13/03/2019 08:32

@T1ff4ny I second the sore boobs. It's my main symptom at the minute. That and complete exhaustion! I get odd waves of nausea but only very mild at the minute.

I am wearing a lounge bra to work today (padded but no wires) and am heading out at the weekend to buy a couple of other soft ones. My boobs don't seem any bigger yet but they are painful.

@DoubtOfTheOrdinary I think the anxiety is normal! My DP had to have a few words with me about getting too stressed. You have to remember that the majority of time things are absolutely fine. I looked at an early scan at 7 weeks but the scan place suggested waiting to 8/9 weeks if I could to avoid any panic on the heartbeat (as it might not show if my dates are out). I have my booking appointment with the midwives at 8+3 so I'm going to see what she says about it all.

I've told my friend who has a baby who is 5 months but that's all. I'd told her we were ttc and I'm so grateful to be able to ask all my 'is this normal' questions. I'm also going to tell my fitness instructor as I will need to take it slightly easier. I currently do HIIT 3 times a week so have taken this week off 'sick' but think it'll be better just to explain so I don't push myself too hard! I'm not ready to give it up yet though Blush it will be under strict instruction that he is not to tell a soul though. I will also tell my mum on Mother's Day but then no one else until my 12 week scan (or maybe slightly before if I have a 9/10 week scan).

LexieLoos · 13/03/2019 10:42

Hi all, mind if I join?
Had a BFP last Thursday, and should be due the first week of November.
Off to register for the midwife today, but it’s an 8-week appointment here as well - So nerve wracking isn’t it?!

T1ff4ny · 13/03/2019 17:08

@dottydally well done on keeping up the exercise!! I'm going to try to get back into my yoga next week. I've had a horrible cough/cold for the last week and was googling like mad to see if it would affect the baby! Lol my boobs are the same - I keep asking my husband if they look any bigger but it's a firm no!!

@LexieLoos congratulations!!! I absolutely agree - waiting until 8 weeks will be a chore. But then I guess it's nothing compared to 40 weeks. I imagine it will drag but then when we get to the end will feel like the blink of an eye!

Chanel05 · 13/03/2019 17:31

Welcome @LexieLoos and congrats.

@T1ff4ny @dottydally I third the sore boobs still too! I've just got in from work and I'm exhausted.

dottydally · 13/03/2019 17:43

Congratulations @LexieLoos! Did you get registered?

Thank you @T1ff4ny. I will confess to having not gone since I got my BFP but I suppose that was only at the weekend! I'm not sure how it will mid with the tiredness. It will either kill or cure! It's so rubbish as you can't take any pills for a cough/cold when pregnant either Sad

I keep asking the same thing! I've actually got a tape measure so will measure them tonight and my waist too. I think I might be closer to 14/15 weeks when I announce it at work just to make sure I can tell all family first (we are weirdly spread out and I want to do it in person). We also have a mid year performance rating thing and whilst it shouldn't make a difference. . . Anyway, the measurements will help me figure out if I'm actually getting bigger or if it's in my mind. The Emma's diary app says you gain 1lb a week from 9 weeks!

Is anyone else worried about weight gain? I'm 5'9 and like to keep under 10 stone. I know it's all for a good cause but I spend so much time working out so the thought of gaining weight freaks me out Blush

KatieKat88 · 13/03/2019 19:28

Hi all! I'm knackered today too - starting to stress about work-life balance with a child. I'm a secondary school teacher and middle leader with a big remit so I'm normally at work until 7. That has killed me today! My lower back is really sore- I think from being on my feet so much. Have never had any issues with it before so think it must be related?!

Thanks for the welcome all - Forms handed in and the midwife will be in touch within a week for first appointment.

dotty I’m in the same boat re performance reviews

I’m not generally a worrier, but I haven’t really had any symptoms and it’s making me so anxious!
How’s everyone else doing? Is this a first baby for everyone?

DoubtOfTheOrdinary · 14/03/2019 09:54

@LexieLoos I'm in the same boat re lack of symptoms. I have read in a couple places that it's common for symptoms not to kick in until about 7 or 8 weeks, and as PPs have said (thanks for the reassurance, ladies!) every woman's symptoms - or lack thereof - are different. But it is nerve-wracking isn't it!

We're going to visit DH's family in the States at the end of the month when I'll be about 7 weeks, so planning to tell them then, and my family just before we go. Only DH and I know at present, apart from one of my (male!) colleagues who somehow guessed! He says he can often tell Confused

My DH is taking a long time to get his head around it; anyone else? We weren't really trying but weren't using any contraception and both agreed we'd be happy if it did happen. He says he doesn't want a termination / miscarriage (which I was initially worried he did); he just needs time to process it. But it's been a week since we found out and he still doesn't seem excited.

DoubtOfTheOrdinary · 14/03/2019 09:56

(Sorry, reading that post it seems very negative! I am actually very happy and excited Grin Just these early weeks are more stressful than I anticipated!)

LexieLoos · 14/03/2019 10:09

Doubt Maybe he’s just nervous too, but doesn’t want to worry you - I know I’m trying hard not to get carried away yet in case anything happens, but am veering between over excited and stand-offish!

Thank you for the reassurance re symptoms - I suppose it’s just a case of waiting now!

FaroHolley · 14/03/2019 10:09

Can I join please? I have no idea of the abbreviations though!
I took three digital tests on Monday and saw my GP to confirm on Tuesday. I’ve had early miscarriages before and this is an accident with a very new relationship so the GP wants to wait a few weeks before scheduling any appointments. I think if all is well I’m due mid November, just over two weeks in now. The father doesn’t want it, outright told me to get an abortion. He’s calmed himself down now and is being supportive but needless to say my stress levels are through the roof.
I’m very active, (surfer, yoga teacher, climber etc.) but the list of things I’ve been told not to do this time around is overwhelming; has anyone else been told not to swim in the pool or sea for the first trimester?!

Harvey3 · 14/03/2019 11:50

Hi all - do you mind if I join? Got my BFP this week so due mid November. Booked an appointment but it isn't until 8 weeks - really nerve wracking to wait that long! No symptoms yet...

sophiebell86 · 14/03/2019 11:58

We have the same due date! I’m pregnant with my second and can’t wait to do it all over again and have a lovely bunch of ladies to speak with on here. It really helped me the first time xx

Nell90x · 15/03/2019 13:26

I've just had to spill the beans at work 😣 wasn't wanting to do this until 12 weeks - not even told our family yet! I'm a teacher and one of the children (not small either) kicked me in the side of my torso. Normally I would have walked it off, but today I walked away and ended up in floods of tears. I then felt like I needed to explain this to a couple of colleagues who saw me including the head. They told me to go to the doctors, but I'm only 4 weeks along, there's nothing that doctors could do this early. So I've been sent home to rest. Hopefully everything is fine and my initial reaction was just an over worry. I feel frustrated, ridiculous and disappointed about the whole situation... I'm sorry if this is rather negative for what should be such a happy thread. I just need to vent to someone to try and de-stress!

KatieKat88 · 15/03/2019 17:26

Flowers Nell - I'm a teacher too and have been worried about this! Got in the middle of a fight a few months ago without even thinking so I know how easily something like that can happen. I'm sure everything will be ok but I would have had exactly the same reaction!
