Hello, so I am currently 40+4days and have had cramps for nearly 36hrs only period like cramps however yesterday i had the sweep done, bled a little however a couple of hours after having it done i lost my mucus plug 🤢 midwife advised that the babys head is as far down as it can be, cervix is 1cm and medium to soft, could access it straight away. now the cramps have started again. I am currently really fed up and just wanted to know if anything else had similar symptoms just before going into labour?

I had cramps/tightenings on a nightly basis from 40+4 days until I was induced at 41+6
They'd started to intensify at 41 weeks, get closer together for a few hours, then I'd go to bed and they'd disappear.
It's called podromal labour, and can go for days to weeks, unfortunately.
Apparently it does make active labor quicker once you get going though (this was my experience).

I definitely had similar symptoms. I'd recommend going for a walk to get things moving a bit more. Try and relax, get some sleep and let things progress as naturally as possible! Good luck!
