What’s the furthest you would travel at 37+6?

1 hour 45 minute trip tomorrow (75 miles) for a 2 hour visit then return in the afternoon. Will have my 2 year old with me. I hadn’t thought much of it but DH has now just started making me worry saying should I be so far from home at this stage?

Note the hospital is a 50 minute drive from here anyway so it’s not like I’m sat on the doorstep.

How far is sensible to travel at this stage?

I went 400 miles and back at 37 weeks

WhenZogateSuperworm · 07/03/2019 20:24

Excellent! That’s what I want to hear!

I have agreed to put my hospital bag in the boot and reassured DH that any niggle and I will either drive straight back or will call an ambulance if I need to.

I am doing a 1 hour round trip twice a day to drop DS off at the childminders anyway so used to being in the car.

I don't think I would have gone further than the fridge and back!

130 miles away from home for a long weekend at 38 weeks Smile

doodlejump1980 · 07/03/2019 21:13

I gave birth at 37+6 (not helpful sorry!)

YouBoggleMyMind · 07/03/2019 21:13

We did take hospital bag/baby car seat with us just incase. Baby came at 39+3.

Thanks! DC1 arrived at 40 weeks exactly and I went into labour overnight so hoping for similar this time rather than whilst out and about!

With my first I was working 2.5 hours away, staying there 3 nights a week then doing the 2.5 hour drive back. Did that up until 2 weeks before my due date!

QuilliamCakespeare · 07/03/2019 22:07

I did 200 miles on my own (by train) at 37 weeks.

anniehm · 07/03/2019 22:19

Just take your bag and your notes (if they still do paper notes!) they have hospitals across the whole country just in case!

FrangipaniBlue · 07/03/2019 22:25

300 odd miles each way on a work conference at 36+5 weeks

I'll be 37+6 tomorrow and currently have a 5 day old baby attached to my breast. We had zero signs of his arrival until my contractions started 8-9 hours before he arrived. I barely even felt pregnant and was planning to work until 39 weeks. This is my first baby so naïvely assumed it would come closer to 40 weeks or after.

icouldwriteabook · 08/03/2019 05:28

To the toilet and back, bed and back, fridge and back. I did work until 39 weeks aswell so work and back, but that was a short journey, everyone’s different!

WinterHeatWave · 08/03/2019 07:09

150 miles for Easter weekend. We did put the carseat in the car tho.
Was born 2 weeks later, on his due date.

DustyDoorframes · 08/03/2019 14:50

If you are going the same way as the hospital you'll only end up 5 mins further... it depend entirely on how you feel, I'd say!

I drove an hour to a wedding at 38+5 (with a toddler in tow). It was BIL’s wedding, which meant DH was best man, so unable to help until the reception.

We stayed at the venue overnight. DC2 arrived the next day!!
