We've just been trying to fit our new car seat in the back seat of our old VW Golf, and I wanted some advice because it doesn't seem quite right.

I'm 99% certain we've fitted it according to the instructions, but if you hold the carry handle and give it a wiggle it soon becomes quite loose - I can't imagine this is the way it should be as it just seems too wobbly.

Has anyone used this seat/car combo successfully and can you give me any tips? I've tried it in both of the back seats of the car (the front seat has an airbag so can't use) and both me and my husband have had a go.

We bought it from 2 left feet over the internet so can't go back to the shop and ask them to fit it for us, but was thinking of begging for help from John Lewis or Mothercare. Have 2 weeks until due date...

remove seat and all evidence of seat from car
go to Halfords, M'care or JL
pretend you are considering buying a cosy tot and ask them to show you how it'll fit in the car
make notes
if they get it firmer than you did, install it like they did
if they get it wobbly too ask if it's really ok
then say you need to go away and think about it

remember the weight of the child in the seat makes a difference - try it with a bag of potatoes buckled into it.

Thanks MrsB - went to Mothercare last night and got their car seat expert to show us how it's done. We were fitting it properly after all and my panicky mind is now at rest.

Thanks for your good advice!
