Does my dog know I am pregnant?

He cuddled up to my belly and follows me everywhere. Even the loo!

He’s always been clingy to me but now more than ever. Very protective as well.

He is 1 year old and I am 13 weeks

Yes!! my d dog always knew before l did and did similar,
she was a bit of a pain, large Wiemaraner who GLUED herself to my body!! and wouldn't let any stranger near me either, though before she had been a big softy.

What sort of dog do you have?

billybagpuss · 06/03/2019 07:46

Yes, animals are very susceptive to things like this, my cat spent most of the 9 months led on my belly it was lovely.

Absolutely. The only time my dog growled at anyone was when I was pregnant. She was as equally protective of the pram. (Now she still loves buggies but only because they often have lots of dropped food on them!)

I’m sure my cat knew; she would not leave me alone whereas before she rarely sat with me

Congrats on your pregnancy OP Flowers

My dog bless him, was so distressed when I was at home in labour crying, wanting to be with me, rushing about, he didn’t know what to do with himself!

Yogagirl123 · 06/03/2019 07:54

Dog was crying not me LOL 😂

These stories are lovely Smile Animals are so intuitive.

I was wondering about this! My cat is normally pretty aloof and he's been all over me and following me about!

Yogagirl123 · 06/03/2019 08:52

My dog was the first to know I was pregnant, I told him, before my DH! 😂

MrsMyrtle · 06/03/2019 09:02

I am 39 weeks with my first and not noticed any difference with my dog . I think she is in denial!

GemArt · 06/03/2019 09:05

Definitely, my dog was a similar age and he would not let anyone stand between me and him, it was great when he needed his annual booster and wouldn’t let the vet in between us!!

My dog knew with my DS and he started acting the same before I took a test this time too.
Last time he became very protective of me. I had a home midwife appt around 36 weeks, she asked me to lay down to measure my belly and he jumped straight on me to protect me from the 'strange' woman.

Sexnotgender · 06/03/2019 16:17

My cat is the reason I took a test! She knew well before I did.
