Placenta Praevia & also high risk of pre-eclampsia :-(

I’ve just had my 20 week scan and at the moment it is looking highly likely that I have placenta praevia. I’m already high risk due to having severe pre-eclampsia with my first (delivered via c section at 33 weeks). I’m now absolutely petrified. I have an appointment with the consultant on Monday, but they have said it’s highly unlikely that my placenta will move up (previous c section and it’s covering my cervix so very low lying) so I will need to have another c-section. I’m now at risk of heavy bleeding, and the leaflet says I may need a blood transfusion when I deliver and if I bleed that much I may need a hysterectomy. I know they have to give the worse case scenario but I’m so scared. I had a miscarriage last year so this has been such a rollercoaster of emotions.
Has anybody else had placenta praevia? Has anybody had placenta praevia and pre-eclampsia?
I feel so scared that I’m going to lose my baby boy or that I’m going to have both serious conditions at the same time and die.

Please can you only comment if it was a good outcome? I can’t cope with any horror stories x

Hi OP, I'm wondering why they are so sure it won't move up? I lm currently 24 weeks with twins and at 18 weeks started bleeding. One placenta was found to be completely covering the cervix. After a couple of nights in hospital, 2 emergency scans and 2 weeks of on/off bleeding and spotting I had my 20 weeks scan and the placenta had moved up so that just the edge of it came down to the cervix. All bleeding stopped at this point too. Just had my 24 week scan this morning and the placenta has now moved up a full 3cm clear of the cervix and all is well. I was told they only worry about it if the placenta is still covering the cervix after about week 28.

Hope everything sorts itself out for you and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy 😊

@CritterTamer they said that because I had to have a c-section last time this makes it unlikely that the placenta will move now, and because it’s so low. I’m hoping that the lady who went over it with me today is just being really cautious and that the consultant on Monday will be more reassuring
