I hope there are some other pregnant ladies out there that are similar to me.

I just CANNOT stop eating sugary foods! I can't tell whether I crave chocolate and cakes or am using my pregnancy as an excuse to eat a continuous amounts of them!
I am eating something at least every hour/ 1 hr 30 mins.
Sometimes it's fruit and sometimes it's crisps but I just cannot get over the sheer amount of food I am consuming!! Is this normal? To be eating all.the.time.

I'm not to worried about baby weight, I was a relatively fit and healthy size 10 before I fell pregnant and know I will start exercising and losing weight after baby is born. (Exercise is my therapy)

I'm more worried I am just being a pig ( because when else can you be) And I am worried all the sugar could have a negative effect on the baby!

Please tell me there are other women living off of chocolate buttons and crisps!

I was like that when I was pregnant with my twins. I don't usually have a very sweet tooth but all I wanted was sugar. The day they were born my MIL bright me in a bag of all my favourite chocolate bars and I didn't feel any desire to eat them. That was the end of that!
So I put it down to just needing sugar while I was pregnant, for some reason. I suppose my body just knew what it needed.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 05/03/2019 15:24

When I was pg with DD I couldn't stop eating, I practically lived off jam doughnuts.
I am pg again now (19+3) and just sugar crazy. Sweeties, chocolate, ice cream, biscuits. It's carnage.

But like you I'm not worried about weight as I lost it all v quickly after I gave birth and normally have a very healthy balanced diet.

I'm letting my body do what it needs to do.
Enjoy it, guilt free I say! (But try eating more veg than normal at meal times!)

I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth and I’ve been eating chocolate Shock

My main craving has been dairy so I’ve been inhaling pints of fruit yogurt or a banana, Greek yogurt, nuts and honey for breakfast to get a sweet fix but also some nutrients and a filling start to the day.

I haven’t gained much weight at 39 weeks and feel like I’m eating quite instinctively. Plenty of fruit and veg and protein, definitely more carbs than usual when I want them and yes, some chocolate, when I want it. I’m sure it’ll pass when the baby’s out but for now I’m trusting my body and it’s making me eat differently to when I’m not pregnant that’s okay Smile

  1. The amount of food is normal but you must at least try to eat healthy or healthier because....

2.You don't know what kind of birth you will have. You may have to have emergency surgery or some other complication which means you can't exercise like you would like to.

Fingers crossed you don't, but I wouldn't just assume that the weight will just fall off.

Oldwives tale here but craving sugary is meant to be a sign for a girl. I was the same and had a girl but then I liked chocolate pre pregnancy 😂😂

ShabbyAbby · 05/03/2019 15:30

I'm pregnant, 3rd trimester
I eat Cadbury cream eggs for breakfast
And lunch
And dinner

I also drink sugary drinks, eat pasta nearly every day (big bowls covered in cheese) and have a lot of salt cravings, like gravy and Marmite.

I can't remember the last time I ate fruit Blush I've gone off it since being preggers and would rather eat Skittles. I do eat my veg though and have a daily glass of juice.

ShabbyAbby · 05/03/2019 15:30

Ps. I don't even like chocolate normally.

ParadiseLaundry · 05/03/2019 15:43

I honestly could have written your post Op, I'm 18 weeks. Im trying not to be too hard on myself as I didn't have much of an appetite until week 14 though. I definitely prefer sweets but really I'm not discriminating against any food groups Grin

I was starving all the way though my last pregnancy with DS although more savoury things. I read that when you're pregnant with a boy you want to eat all the time and it's because it's the same hormone that makes teenage boys starving all the time!

mrsk28 · 05/03/2019 15:53

I've eaten loads of fruit with this pregnancy (32 weeks) but that's not hugely out of the ordinary for me. The only thing I craved more was carbs/bread in the first and second trimesters and less so now. I was a healthy size 8-10 pre pregnancy too and am looking forward to getting back to more exercise and healthy eating after baby is born.

Have been feeling quite guilty about having something sweet after dinner in the evenings but this thread makes me feel much better 😁

AKohler · 05/03/2019 15:56

Oh good, I'm not alone!

I definitely don't expect my body to bounce back and I won't be in any rush to lose the extra weight once baby is here. My husband is also very good at force feeding me vegetables now and again lol!

I will carry on with my buckets of pasta and suitcases of chocolate then! :)

Thank you ladies!

I was like that but now I’ve hit 27 weeks I’ve lost my appetite as my bumps grown and feel so full An heavy like there’s no room for food 🤷🏻‍♀️ I still love fizzy laces though ! I don’t think it matters as long as you eat a lot of fruit and veg too x

CritterTamer · 05/03/2019 16:34

24 weeks with twins here and for the last few weeks my two cravings have been orange juice with juicy bits in (hated all forms of orange juice prior to pregnancy), and chocolate chip cookies. I think there's definitely something to the needing sugar theory!

coral13 · 05/03/2019 17:31

I'm so glad it's not just me! I'm normally more of savoury person but I'm 18 weeks and literally can not stop baking!!

Chunk9 · 05/03/2019 17:37

39 weeks tomorrow and can’t stop stuffing my face with sweet stuff. Mainly ice lollies and ice cream!!!! Sweets, chocolate. Cereal?! I don’t get why but I can’t get enough of shreddies- I have the most ridiculously huge bowl every morning.i do try and keep it under control, but between us I just made sure I threw my cornetto wrapper in the bin outside so my husband won’t know I’ve already had one and tell me off for having another!!!!

Bernifal · 05/03/2019 20:26

Pleased to find this! I’m 22 weeks too and I’ve been craving chocolate SOO badly. I was letting myself get away with it until last week I met the midwife who warned me about gestational diabetes. I don’t get tested for it until April, but because my BMI is just in the risk zone she told me to cut down on sugar so I’ve basically cut it out 😭😭😭

Ok today I had a chocolate bar but in general I’ve been a saint compared to what I was 2 weeks ago.

burritofan · 05/03/2019 20:38

Vegetables currently make me dry heave and have done throughout. (I'm 35 weeks.) Can't do full meals because of heartburn.

But I can neck a pack of Tangfastics like nobody's business. Foam bananas. Dairy Milk by the slab. Ice cream. Coco Pops. Cake. Gimme gimme gimme. I'm trying to balance it with yoghurt, brown bread, other tolerable things, but honestly, so long as I'm getting calories and energy and taking my prenatal I'm trying not to worry.
