Humour me regarding sweeps

Not saying you should, or that I'm going to.
But my is it tempting when there is still no sign of actual labour but you know its just out of grasp!

Would you ever give yourself/get hubby to give you a sweep?

Speaking as a midwife, you’d be amazed how difficult it actually is to do an effective sweep.

Eh? If you're at full-term, why wouldn't you just ask your midwife to give you a sweep?

Well that was might thoughts exactly! Surely doing a DIY sweep would just be discomfort for the sake of a bit of prodding?!

I have one booked. Just not soon enough! So anything to occupy me and keep me entertained!

No, not unless one of us was a midwife or doctor who knew what we were doing! Even then I don’t know if it would be physically possible to do one on yourself? You’d have to be more flexible than most women are at 40 weeks for sure.

God no. I did get it done by a midwife but I wouldn't do it myself. Mine didn't work so I wish I hadn't bothered (was painful for hours afterwards). Others may disagree but I'm not convinced sweeps do anything unless your body is ready to go into labour anyway. In which case you will do so whether or not you have one. Try nipple stimulation, that's what worked for me. I got my electric pump out and within a few minutes my waters broke.

I used to dread using it when I bf dd! Even my manual used to kill me! 😂
