Abdominal ultrasound at 7+5 showed nothing

I've just had an abdominal ultrasound at 7+5. This is routine in the country that I live in. The sonographer couldn't find anything. Has anyone experienced this and what was the outcome?

She did a pregnancy test afterwards which she says was a very strong positive. I am certain of my dates as have been tracking ovulation, etc on an app. I am also experiencing pregnancy symptoms. I have had no spotting, bleeding or abdominal pain. The only explanation I can come up with is that the baby stopped growing very early on but my body still thinks that I am pregnant? Any ideas?

I am going for a transvaginal ultrasound in a couple of days time.

Not experienced this but both times I’ve had an early scan they’ve been transvaginal. They haven’t even attempted an abdominal scan. Plenty of people have had successful abdominal scans from this gestation but there are also plenty who have needed the transvaginal to see anything. I think you need to wait for your other scan to know more although it’s understandable to be worried.

You may have a retroverted uterus, this makes early scans more difficult as the uterus is behind the intestines and bladder when so small. Were they able to visualise ovaries or the uterine structures? If not you probably just need the TV scan. Hope everything goes well at your next scan op.

You couldn't see anything on an abdominal scan until I was 10 weeks, both times. Trans vaginal should give you a better idea, hope it goes well

Did you have (a very) full bladder?
This makes a big difference, I had a scan last week at 7+6, and it was very clear but i had a very full bladder because I didn’t really want a vaginal scan, so you can’t see much without a full bladder abdominally.

Gemma yes they could see the ovaries. Ambs yep full bladder. Terri and Teddy thanks for your replies, they have made me feel hopeful!
