I'm still early in pregnancy and probably getting too excited but oh well, when would people say to get the 3D or 4d scan? I never had one with my first, I've not had my first scan yet but I know I want to have an extra scan with this baby but later on when he or she is more developed, just wondering when other people had their 3D/4D scans?

I left mine until 29 weeks both times- there’s a sweet spot for them, if you get it too early their features aren’t as defined and can look a bit alien like, and too late there’s not enough space to get a good look at them.

Dd came out looking exactly like her scan which caused us great amusement- waiting to see if it’s similar for dc2 I the next few days hopefully!

I've had two so far. Week 20 (anomaly) and week 25 (growth). The first was better due to better angles etc. Our baby is all arms and legs and likes to lie with its hands and feet around its ears. So hard to get a good view. They're cool from a scientific perspective but I'm not sure I'd pay extra for one - they're just part of regular scans where I live.

I had never considered getting a 3d scan at all. I’m 22 weeks with my first, and I wanted to know the gender, which they couldn’t see with certainty at my 20 week scan. So a few days after, I booked a gender scan with a local private company, and during that the sonographer gave us a free peek at the 3D view and printed us a photo. I never asked for it, I never would have done it, but I actually really cherish this image. It’s given me a glimpse of what my baby looks like. She looks like she has the big lips that run in my fathers side! It’s the photo I look at most and I’m so pleased to have it.
