Hello,

Just received a BFP this morning... I thought my period was late because of stress and a cold but after taking to a pharmacist she suggested taking a test (I’ve had back aches and cramps)
How do I tell my SO ?
This was not planned, we have recently graduated uni together so first stages of jobs (I’m continuing my study) and we were planning to travel in November for a few months abroad (didn’t set anything in stone was just a nice thought) I’m scared he’s going to freak out.... I have no friends where I live at the moment and I live far away from family so I have no one to talk to about my fears

No advice but I am in pretty much the same position and I am worried to tell my SO! For us it was sort of 'we aren't trying trying but we'll be happy if I get pregnant' so I know he'll be okay but I still have some concern!

I’m commenting more because you don’t have many comments than because I think I have something valuable to say! I haven’t been in your position. It’s not your fault this happened any more than his, so you shouldn’t have to bear any more guilt or worry than him imo. How do you feel about the pregnancy? Do your feelings about it depend on his reaction? I would tell him that ‘I’ve found out something that’s probably going to shock you as much as it shocked me..’. The sooner you tell him, the better.

If possible you can take an earlier trip abroad together, or if you can afford it and you’re up to it, you could take the baby on a trip with you next year when it’s robust enough.

I travel a lot and I’m 22 weeks with my first. My partner was reluctant about kids at first but he’s come around more with each stage. Seeing the scan changed him, as did feeling it move. I’m determined that it won’t stop us traveling and working. I have friends who travelled loads with their baby right from the off, and seeing them do it was inspiring.

Wishing you all the best!
