Sorry ladies - but (brown discharge) is this normal?

Hi I’m sorry for how awful the title of this post may appear, but I am 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I had a private ‘reassurance’ scan on Friday and the ladies said baby was healthy and the heartbeat was beating great , however last night I went to the toilet and noticed a lot of brown discharge?
I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks last year and so I instantly panicked and rang 111. They got a doctor to call me back and he really provided me with no reassurance as to whether this is normal or not? I was that upset I couldn’t really take on what he was saying apart from he mentioned a threatened miscarriage .. even though I explained the day before My scan was fine !

I HATE googling stuff but I’ve googled brown discharge at 9 weeks pregnant and most people on the forums are saying they were panicking too but they’ve seen doctors and they’ve said it’s normal to have brown spotting and as so long as it’s not red it shouldn’t be a worrying factor.

I’ve not had any abdominal cramps or discomfort and today I’ve only had a slight and I mean a slight bit of brown discharge, but still not sure if to ring the early pregnancy unit tomorrow and ask to see someone for another scan ? Or am I worrying too much.

With having had a miscarriage before, obviously it’s a scary thing as soon as you see something you don’t think is normal, so I wondered if anyone on here could try put my mind at rest or maybe advise on why this has just randomly started. I would be grateful if anyone who has had this happen could let me know. Thankyou, x

I've had bleeding pink/red & brown and as soon as you say brown all the midwifes/drs say that's nothing to panic about as it's just old blood. But having miscarried myself I know the constant worry you'll dealing with. I'd call the midwife/EPU and say you're really stressing out and would like a scan. Hope everything is ok x

Had it both times both fine good luck

Ive had it go both ways, so frustrating as it is only time will tell. You can ask to be referred to your local early pregnancy Unit, when I am there is about a 48hr wait to be seen there. I hope all goes well for you Flowers

Thankyou! Yes I think I will give the epu a call just if anything for reassurance because I thought I just didn’t want to ignore it and it end up being something bad !! Thankyou for your replies ladies !!

The ultrasound will have irritated your cervix which is very sensitive in pregnancy. It will be old blood from that. I wouldn’t worry x

Holly5633 · 04/03/2019 07:22

That’s if it was an internal one... if not then I wouldn’t panic as other women said before me it is usually ok but your EPU should see you to put your mind at ease

Feel you when you said about not being much reassurance all you ever here is 'you're quite early on in your pregnancy'. I had bright red blood at about 11 weeks went for a private scan the same day and baby was doing fine thanks goodness. Don't think we have a early pregnancy unit where I live x

Russell19 · 04/03/2019 07:35

Was your scan internal? May have dislodged some old blood as a pp has said. I would still ring and get checked....or go back to the private place?

Saydz92 · 04/03/2019 09:22

My scan was an abdominal one, not internal so I’ve no idea . I’ve still got it this morning so it’s been ongoing since Saturday night now. It’s weird because Ive put a panty liner on each day since it’s started and nothing appears on there, it’s just when I wipe .. very strange. But I’m still pain free so I’m just reading everyone’s comments and getting my head around that this is probably normal then :) x
