I’m so confused - help!

Hi All,

Any advice/info would be much appreciated as I am so confused as to what my body is trying to do!

I’ve been with my partner for three years now, over the last six weeks or so, I have not been taking any contraception. My last AF was 01.02.19 and only lasted a couple of days (this was my first AF in a long time as I never used to get them when taking my pill). Myself and my partner have been having frequent unprotected sex and was expecting AF this weekend, 1st of March however my AF came earlier on 25.02.19 and it started off really dark, almost black but the consistency was minimal and quite thick? (TMI - sorry) then the next day it was heavy and red and the following day it became dark brown and went from minimal bleeding to none? So only lasted 3 days which was odd.

Since my AF ended, my nipples are incredibly sore and tender to touch and my lips have a metallic taste to them. I have been having headaches all week and get regular feeling of nausea? I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous that I am asking whether I could potentially be pregnant, considering I’ve had what I think was my AF, however I have seen online and heard stories about other mums who experienced bleeding during early pregnancy.

Myself and my partner had unprotected sex on 15.02.19, just over two weeks ago now.. I just wondered what people’s thoughts were on this, as although it probably was my AF, I find it odd that I’m experiencing this symptomology now my period has passed... HELP Blush

Why are you asking internet strangers whether you’re pregnant or not? Do a pregnancy test, that will answer your question.

user1471517900 · 03/03/2019 18:27

The 7th reply will definitely have the correct answer. That is how the internet works. There is no more reliable way to find out

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 03/03/2019 18:28

Is it still half term?

NotANotMan · 03/03/2019 18:29

Are you trying to get pregnant?
If you've had a period you probably aren't.

SummerHouse · 03/03/2019 18:33

I think you could be. Flowers

Fiveredbricks · 03/03/2019 18:34

Do a bloody test fgs. We're not psychic.

hobnob had the 7th reply. Hope that answers it.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 03/03/2019 18:37

Bloody hell, you don’t sound even close to being ready to parent

FiveStoryFire · 03/03/2019 18:38

I had a metallic taste with both of mine.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 03/03/2019 18:38

Hi OP, I don't think AIBU is the best place for this thread. Might be worth asjing to get it moved to pregnancy or TTC board? You sound anxious about it but only way you will know is thru a test

Fromage · 03/03/2019 19:01

Why do people start these threads instead of POAS? Very interested to know, not being goady, I just don't understand why. I mean, if someone said "I'm skint, I can't afford a pg test and I don't want to go to the GP, is it possible I could be pregnant?" I could understand it. But there are so many threads started by people who seem to live in some netherworld that is part dark ages and part 21st century. I don't know whether to tell you to book an appointment with your GP or run thrice around a holly bush at midnight naked and bathe in the fresh dew of meadow at dawn and forsooth! if ye hear the cock crow ye are withe childe, but if ye see a black rabbit, becursed are ye, and you will see only one more setting of the sunn and they die ye shall, of the pox and the fitte.

I sometimes wonder if a whole generation of women didn’t have sex education or biology lessons in school, when they need to come on an internet forum and ask ‘I am a woman who has periods and unprotected sex, could I possibly be pregnant?’.

I wish there was some sort of invention to answer you question for you op, something to give you a definitive yes or no. In the meantime, just keep asking random strangers, or wait about 8-9 months a definite answer.

Soubriquet · 03/03/2019 19:14

Are you trying to get pregnant?

Cos guess what, unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy! ShockShock

Amazing right

LilyMumsnet · 03/03/2019 19:23

We're moving this over to the pregnancy board. Peace and love!

FutureMrsD · 03/03/2019 21:23

Aren’t you a caring, helpful bunch?! 🙄
Talk about being condescending!!

Cosmogirl86 · 03/03/2019 21:33

Mumsnet really can be nasty.

OK here's the thing. Coming off the pill can make your cycle really irregular for weeks or months. Some women return to regular cycles immediately others don't. And a 28 day cycle isn't the norm. My own cycle was 32 days and that's my normal.

Don't be concerned your cycles are all over the place right now. And it's genuinely too soon to symptom spot. My pregnancy symptoms didn't really kick in til four weeks at least.

Pee on a stick. Tesco own brand are good and cheap. That way you'll know. If you are having unprotected sex, of course there's a chance. And ignore the comments on this site, it can be a very mean place.

I think you just wanted advice so hope it helps

birdling · 06/03/2019 07:52

It's possible that the strange bleed was simply due to coming off the pill.
You need to test to find out first.
Question is, do you want to be pregnant? If yes, then keep doing what you're doing, if no, then you need another form of contraception sorted before you have sex again.
Hope you get the result you want Smile
