Hello
I'm just over 9 weeks pregnant and found out at my dating scan on Thursday that I have what I think is called an 'angular' pregnancy. It's a borderline ectopic pregnancy, the foetus is growing in the uterus just next to the ovaries, and I've been told that it could still grow into the uterus but they want to rescan me in ten days to see if there is enough room for it to develop as it could also start growing into muscle tissue and that would be bad news... There's scary stuff to read on google so I thought maybe someone out there has been here before. I've got a delightful little girl of nearly 20 months and have had two miscarriages in the past 8 months...I'm a little scared to be quite honest. I would really appreciate your answers, thanks

hi jekka

no direct experience i'm afraid, but i did have an ectopic pregnancy back in 2003 and wanted to draw your attention to the ectopic pregnancy trust site - in particular the message boards there. izzie and others (nurse advisors) are likely to be your best port of call i would suggest

best of luck - hope all works out for you x

Thank you tutterjane. I thought it was silly sitting here waiting for a reply and it's really nice to get a reply so quickly!! I'll try your link, just been reading google-things, but might have to stop that because it all sounds a bit too scary...

ooh no - avoid google at all costs - it'll scare you senseless. the ep site is great - you may have to wait a little longer for replies there - it's not quite as well populated as mumsnet - but you will get lots of help and support, i promise

No idea about your situation hon, but please don't google anything. I made this mistake for everything in the first half of my PG and my DH ended up banning me because it was making me into a nervous wreck. They only ever seem to come up with worst situation stories which is not helpful to you or your baby.
I hope everything goes well for you- I'm sure you'll be fine. Concentrate on looking after yourself for the next 10 days.

Hello,
Noone seems to know anything about this type of pregnancy... I think the biggest struggle is the waiting. I feel like there is a little time-bomb inside me, and any twinge worries me quite a lot. Not very good for concentration at all! But only another week to the next scan...sigh. I feel a bit like I want something to happen so we can move on, but that's probably not the most positive attitude to have. Thank you for your messages though, it's nice to be able to 'talk' about it, as we've decided not to say anything until at least after the scan next week. I will then see my sisters so will have to tell them otherwise I'd feel like I'd be lying to them!

hi jekka - was no-one at the ept able to help?

i think it's a fairly rare occurence, but would have thought izzie would have some info for you

i know the waiting must be awful, but i guess the longer you go on without any bad news, the better

give yourself lots of treats until the scan - magazines, films, etc to take your mind of it as much as poss (easy to say i know)

good luck x

MrsFish · 10/07/2007 08:10

Hope all goes well for you on the scan x

Hi, I had one message from EPT, Tutterjane, then wanted to reply but forgot my password..doh... so I will try again. Can I email Izzy directly? Just been for lovely walk with my husband and little girl, working quite a lot this week, so am keeping busy so the week passes by quickly. Early morning is awful, but then as the day goes by I do feel a little bit more positive I guess. Your messages help too, thank you

you could try izzie directly at izzie at ectopic dot org

not sure if there's a dot uk at the end of that - try both perhaps?

i know the waiting is awful - have had it with four pregnancies since my ectopic, and until you have a clear scan it's so frustrating

hang in there x

Hello, just thought I'd fill you in as you have been so helpful. I had my scan today, the baby has grown and is fine and I have found out that my uterus is heartshaped and that's why it was in a corner to start with. The thin layer that caused it to be a potential dangerous pregnancy has thickened and all seems to be ok. I'm going for another scan in a couple of weeks to check that all is ok, but I feel sooo much better. Still won't be feeling at ease until I'm a few weeks further on, but neither my previous pregnancies got as far as this one so I keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again for your support xx

Have just seen this thread, jekka, and am delighted for you. Hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly. If it weren't so worrying, there's something rather lovely about having a heart-shaped uterus!

Hello!! I know it's been a while but i was just told i have an 'angular pregnancy'. I went to the ER on Wednesday due to light bleeding they did some labs, ultrasound, and a pelvic ultrasound they came back to me and said I have what is known as a angular pregnancy they basically said that my chances of going full term were very slim and i would most likely miscarry or eventually as the baby keeps growing my uterus can rupture and I can potentially die (although she said the chances are slim on the death thing they are still there) they recommended me to go to my obgyn and get checked today (friday) but when I went they couldn't find the baby so they assumed i had miscarried but then my labs came back and my hormone levels increased since i went to the ER which means im still pretty pregnant they told me to go back next Friday because it's too early to tell where the baby is but how come the ER was able to see the baby but not my obgyn im really confused and Google definitely doesn't help (it only makes it worse) can anyone help me or tell me their story???

Gemchatt85 · 15/09/2019 14:10

Steph111510 how you getting on? If it helps I had a baby on 14th May this year at 37+2 and had absolutely no idea I had an angular pregnancy until she was delivered.. we are now being used as a case study because it is so rare. I'm kind of glad I didn't know coz you must be out of your mind with worry. Hope all's working out ok for you. X
