“Psychic” telling you the sex of your baby

I know not everybody believes psychics - I’ve had a few readings mainly for a bit of fun.
I had a reading a few months ago and she told me my baby would be a boy before I was even pregnant. Now that I’m pregnant I don’t want to know the sex until birth. I know it can only be one or the other, but i want the surprise of my husband telling me whether we have a son or daughter and now I can’t help believing that it’s a boy (which I would be thrilled with but I enjoy the guessing).

Has anyone else ever had a reading from a psychic and they’ve got the sex of a baby wrong?

I just ask so I can continue to read too much into old wives tales without already being convinced it’s one or the other Grin

Well they’ve got a 50/50 chance of getting it right haven’t they? It’s pretty good odds. I guarantee a psychic can’t know what sex your baby is whether you’re pregnant or not (but especially if you’re not) - they may well guess though! Ask for the exact birth weight, I suspect they might not hit on the right answer then ;)

SinkGirl you’ve got a point there. I’m just very gullible. That being said she’s been spot on with quite a few things, but then I am gullible so I would say that!

A psychic told me I was definitely having a boy. My baby was a girl!

Tinkhasflown · 02/03/2019 11:19

A psychic went into great detail in telling me how disappointed my mother would be because I wouldn't have any girls and she would never have the longed for GD she wanted! I apparently would have 1 boy then miscarry a girl and never have any more children. I had 2 girls then a boy....

Have a look at cold reading and how it works - might make you feel a bit better. Don’t feel bad for being gullible, these people make a living from being convincing, especially to people who are vulnerable or in need of answers. Plenty of smart people have been drawn in by a good psychic, but really there’s no evidence whatsoever that they can tell you anything accurate that isn’t based on good guesswork.

Not a psychic but DP was like "it's a boy" right at the beginning and I always pictured a boy but then we called baby "she" the whole pregnancy. We kept it a surprise and actually it was me telling DP that we had a daughter rather than the other way round as I delivered her.

Years ago I went to a physic (just for fun with some friends, I'm not really a believer to be honest).
I was 6 weeks pregnant (and not showing). He asked if I was pregnant and I said yes, he said he was absolutely certain my baby was a boy.

(As a side note, he picked up on the fact that I had had a MC 2 months before and said that the reason he was so sure I was having a boy was because the MC baby was a boy, who was physically very ill and wasn't ready to be born. He told me that I shouldn't be sad for the MC baby as it was the same boy who was going to be completely, perfectly healthy this time. Even if it was a load of shite story, I honestly took great comfort in it at the time)

Anyway, yes- I had a lovely boy who's now 9 years old. (My only boy! ❤️)

What do you think OP? Do you think there is anyone who has been told by a guesser the wrong sex for their baby?

Discosue · 02/03/2019 17:52

@ILoveMaxiBondi obviously. I’m asking to hear other people’s stories.

Thanks for your replies! Guess I’ll find out by November whether she was right or not!

I’m asking to hear other people’s stories.

But why though? Confused it’s proof of nothing other than some people guess right sometimes and wrong sometimes.

A psychic medium told me (about 6/7 years ago) that I wouldn't have the issues my Mum had that I was worried about (reoccurring MCs around 9 weeks) and that I'd have my first child earlier than planned (I always thought I'd have one at around 28). She said I wouod have a little girl by the time I was coming up 26.
I'm due a baby girl in June and am 26 in September.

She was bang on without me even mentioning anything about any of the above.

radgybadger · 02/03/2019 22:19

One told me that DD1 was going to be a boy. Another I've seen recently said she saw me with twins.... I've got 2 DC and that's enough! Confused

twinkletoedelephant · 02/03/2019 22:23

A maassi medicine man told me I would have twin boys.... I did but after a dd.

He also told the lady before me she had no future, very disturbing for her.

CinammonPorridge · 02/03/2019 22:25

I wouldn't know about psychics but I read a theory that for your first child you have the gender that you are supposed to e.g. if you feel you would know more what to do with/feel more comfortable with a boy/girl which had proven true so far in observation!

littlemisscynical · 02/03/2019 22:48

A psychic told me that I wouldn't have any daughters. I would have a son when I am 31 and another aged 33. DS was born a short time after my 31st birthday. He is 1 now. I don't intend to have another any time soon so we'll see.

I know statistically she has a good chance of being correct anyway. Most women now have their first child age 30/31 and then have a two year gap before the next one. There are slightly more boys born than girls. Most of my work colleagues have two boys for example.

Disgusting spam. You should be ashamed. Many people on here have children with disabilities, and this could be very hurtful.

Reported.
