Hi all wondering if anyone could shed some light on my problem.

2 weeks ago my doc said I had an umbilical hernia after I had being having pains around my belly button and a small lump above. I am 30 weeks pregnant with my second but never experienced anything like this with my first.

He didn't say much else just if it got really painful go to a & e.

This last week I have had really really bad wind, problems passing stools And really bad indigestion.
(I know all preg symptoms but been extreme!)
Is this somthing that comes with a hernia? I don't want to keep pestering the doctors as I think they will just think I'm being silly.
It isn't currently painful but I do think it has got bigger.

If anyone else has had the same problem and can let me know how they got on?

Thanks 😊

Hi, I'm not sure about adults with umbilical hernia but my DD developed it soon after she was born. HV pretty much said the same thing, it's nothing to worry about, just monitor the lump to make sure it doesn't start to hurt or turn a funny colour as that could indicate whatever is being pushed through the damaged muscle wall is twisted. DD didnt appear to have any issues with wind (altho she was already our wee scarlet pumpernickle before it appeared!) My DD's hernia fixed itself after a couple of months. I wonder if your doctor is waiting to see if it goes away after you give birth and your muscles come together again? I was told if DD's hernia didn't fix itself it's a simple operation to fix it.
Have you spoken to your midwife about it? She's probably come across it before and will be able to give you better advice.

Hi I ended up with a hernia just above my belly button with my first baby, it never caused problems as such during the pregnancy it just made my stomach sore. I was told it would go away after having my baby but it didn't and it just got more painful. I'm pregnant again now and it constantly bulges out, you can see it through my tops. I'm going to try and get it sorted out after this pregnancy as I can't stand it constantly hurting, I have to press my stomach all the time to stop it hurting as much. Hopefully yours will be one that just goes after giving birth.
