I somehow cannot seem to find a lot of information about them online. At my 20 week scan, they discovered two haematomas. I've had a couple of big bleeds before since 17 weeks, but they were (according to the gyn) connected to a low-lying placenta. The lady who performed our ultrasound didn't say much about them either, just that they were there and that she was making a note of it.
