Period pains pregnancy

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and been having a dull ache similar to faint period pains.

I don't remember feeling these with my first baby. This baby is much bigger.

Is it just the extra weight?

I got them every evening for weeks with my second pregnancy. I think it was my body limbering up for labour (41 weeks). Definitely didn't have it the first time.

Braxton hicks?

I have been getting painless Braxton hicks, on and off for a few weeks.

The dull ache doesn't seem to every really go, just there constantly niggling away.

When I went in to hospital with pains, they told me sharp pains are fine, period type pains are not, and that I should always get it checked out.
