Does anyone have any experience of Post-Partum Haemorrhage and fast labours?
DD1 was born in just under 3 hours with little warning, definitely wouldn’t of suspected I was in labour. This ended in PPH of around 900mls so it wasn’t major and I then went to theatre for removal of retained placenta.
DD2 was born in just under 2 hours, again no warning and woke up with contractions 3 minutes apart lasting 1.5 minutes. DD2 was born just after we arrived at hospital. PPH of 1.8L and retained placenta again resulting in surgical removal.
I’m now 34 weeks pregnant with DD3 and consultant led for various reasons. I have an appointment with her on Monday and now that we are getting closer to the birth I’m getting extremely anxious that there is no plan in place other than to cannulate when I arrive at the hospital. Considering I am 45 minutes from the nearest hospital (which is in the city and could take double this in rush hour), I’m terrified of having an unassisted homebirth with two children here and then having to have an ambulance/haemorrhaging at home or on the way to hospital.
Has anyone had this managed differently? I’m looking for suggestions I can propose to the consultant but I don’t really know if there are any measures that can be put in place to manage the risk.
Sorry it’s a long one!!
