Mirena coil removal

Hi guys.

I had the Mirena coil removed on the 22/02 after 18 months. I am now 3 days post removal and I have woken up this morning with really bad cramps and backache. It feels a little better when laying on my back but as soon as I turn on my side the cramping starts up almost immediately. I have little bleeding, more spotting if anything.

I had unprotected sex the day prior to removal but if I was pregnant I wouldn't be expecting any symptoms after 4 days would I? Confused

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Thanks for your help Smile

I would say it's a gazillion times more likely that your symptoms are related to the Mirena removal than being pregnant!

That's good to hear. I start a new job and don't really want to be pregnant before I start Grin

I had something very similar! I had my mirena coil removed and was due my period about a week later (can't remember exactly!). But started bleeding two days after having it removed and also had back ache. Can't actually remember if this turned in to a period or my period came a week later when it was due! So with my it was definitely related to having the mirena coil removed, although I was told by the nurse who removed it that there is a chance you can get pregnant if you have had sex in the days before having it removed and it is around the time you ovulate.

However, when my next period was due, it never came and I got a positive pregnancy test! Currently 33 weeks pregnant and can't wait to meet my little bubba in April Halo

Oh wow, congratulations!! Smile I have heard of people getting pregnant pretty quickly so I definitely know it could happen. Hopefully it happens in the next few months for us Halo
