Does anyone know the chances of MMC after heartbeat at 8 weeks?

Hey,
Just wondered if anyone knew the mmc rate after heartbeat detection at 8 weeks. I'm 10+1 today and had a scan 2 weeks ago and everything was perfect but I've had an mmc in the past so really worrying about it happening again. I'm having my 12 week scan at 13 weeks so still got 3 weeks to wait so just trying to ease my mind but there is SO much contradiction whenever I look it up!!

Thanks xxxx

Low. I think if you see a heartbeat at 9/40 the chance of first trimester MC is under 10%. Good luck Flowers

Hi I think it's something like less than 1% - I can understand your fear - I had a mmc at 12 weeks and when I got pregnant again I don't think I stopped stressing until I gave birth. X

Yes agree with ^ the 1:4 ratio is nothing like that high once you've seen a heartbeat - enjoy your baby

.... and pregnancy

I've had lots of mc too - it's always scary but statistics are in your side

Doesn’t mention heart beat but still reassuring

On the same website as above. I found this incredibly reassuring. I book marked it on my phone so we could check it if me or dh had a wobble!

I had an 8 week scan with a heartbeat, and then a mmc. Found at out my 12 week scan, but I knew something had gone wrong, I could sense it. It’s quite uncommon though after a positive 8 week scan x

Every day the odds are better

I had a scan at 7+3 and the sonographer told me the risk dropped to 5%

Thanks everyone that's really helpful. You're right though I don't think I'm ever gonna stop worrying. I think it'll change from worrying about MMC to birth defects or still birth and I won't stop 😑 I know everyone worries but I think because I've had an mmc and it took us 18 months to get pregnant this time after the MMC I'm so anxious about something going wrong.

Xxxxx

Kej13 - my midwife told me it was about 3% at the time.

You can never know for sure, but even many insane and insecure pregnancies work out fine. I got real unlucky in my second trimester (threatened miscarriage / premature birth at 17+4 weeks and now on bedrest), and still the odds are in my favour.

Kej13 · 01/03/2019 06:47

Oh no that's awful!! How long are you on bed rest for?? I'm sure it's worrying for nothing on my part but I can't seem to stop it 😑

I was so worried with my baby, had the 8 week scan and at the bottom of the scan letter it gave me my percentages that pregnancy would continue to full term, which I know they probably did to cover themselves and be helpful but it completely stuck with me! The whole way through pregnancy I was googling percentage baby would be okay most days! It's easy to say try not to think about it because I know some days it's all I thought about! At 8 weeks the letter said to me 78 percent chance baby is okay
