Blood after wiping - is this it? (Very overdue!)

I’ll be 42 weeks on Monday. I had a 4th attempt at a sweep at 5pm today. It was more successful than the previous attempts as she could sweep the membranes and feel the baby’s head but I’m still only 1cm dilated and cervix was still posterior but was moving forward.

I’ve just been to the loo (TMI sorry!) and I’ve had pinkish blood after whiping. Could this be the bloody show? I’ve also had persistent lower back ache since the sweep. I really don’t want to be induced Monday as would mean I can’t give birth at the MLU.

I wouldn't call pinkish a bloody show at all.
All bloody shows I've seen have been exactly that, very bloody.
Probably something from the sweep though, so fingers crossed it progresses for you!

AH that’s a shame!

I had originally thought that I had lost some of the plug at 36.5 weeks but wasn’t that big (looked like snotty discharge 🤢) but must have only been the size of a 10p piece. Then I had tea coloured discharge for about a week. Had the same coloured discharge after the same sweep but was only for a day Sad

I really hope this sweep works Sad I don’t think it’s will though..

Does sound like the Mucus plug. When I lost mine it was probably about 50p size.
Haven't noticed a loss of any bit of it in this pregnancy (39w)
Positivity, get bouncing on that ball and scrubbing those floors 😉

My show in my last pregnancy wasn't very bloody. More a creamy mucus with streaks of blood mixed through, definitely more cream and pink than red. Same with my first pregnancy. Mostly mucus with a few bloody streaks. Aww hopefully this is it started, my fingers are crossed for you 😊

Sparklyboots · 23/02/2019 20:22

My show was a fist sized lump of mucus - like snot - streaked with blood. Sure your baby knows when to come, OP, and also whether it needs to show owt. Good luck, hope you sneeze and here is your baby sometime soon

TheSheepofWallSt · 23/02/2019 20:23

My bloody show was barely bloody OP - and started much as you describe... do you feel restless at all?

ahhhhheckmecervix · 23/02/2019 20:34

@TheSheepofWallSt I was exhausted earlier but now I feel fine and I feel like I need to rush around cleaning the house just incase Confused

That was me!
DS was born at 10am the next day Grin

Is this your first baby?

ahhhhheckmecervix · 23/02/2019 21:39

Yes first baby.

I’ve just been to the loo again and there’s more blood. Still pinkish but darker in colour. I’ve just put a pad on to monitor it but at what point should I be concerned Confused

@ahhhhheckmecervix Why don't you give the MLU a call and see what they advise? It does sound like a show, is it jelly like?

annlee3817 · 24/02/2019 00:41

Mine was specks of pink blood in the toilet every time I went for a wee and when wiping. I went into labour that night :) fingers crossed for you

mummmy2017 · 24/02/2019 00:50

Back ache , cleaning and needing the loo a lot...
Yep, fingers crossed for you

Diorissimo1985 · 24/02/2019 07:10

The back ache is a good sign too OP! I also needed the loo loads after my sweep (I had DD at 41+6) ... get bouncing on your birth ball!
