Hello, wondering if anyone is going through this or has been through it? I have been bleeding and spotting since my positive pregnancy test. I am now 7+2. At 6+4 I had a scan and all looked OK, could see a tiny heartbeat and a blob. Also a subchorionic hematoma was seen at 15mmx 9 mm. I have no idea if that is big or small, at this point baby only measured 4mm. I have been bleeding lightly again today.

This is an frozen embryo cycle from the fresh IVF cycle that produced my daughter, 22 months.

I am so worried about miscarriage and every time I see blood I feel totally miserable ☹️. I can’t help thinking things could go wrong.

Anyone currently going through this or been through this, thoughts very welcome!

I had a SCH, from 7 weeks I had a lot of bright red bleeding right up until around week 11. I had various scans to measure the SCH, by my second scan it had grown in size and was right beside baby. I stopped bleeding at week 11 and by 12 week scan I had discovered it had completely resolved. Went back to my twenty week scan and the sonographer found debris floating in the amniotic fluid which was there leftovers of the SCH but mine hasn't caused any problems, other than lots of worry at the bleeding stages.

I am now 27 weeks and no sign of it at all.

I had a very significant bleed with a SH at 9 weeks with dd2. She's nearly 11 now 🙂.

I had some bleeding at 10 weeks which they said was a SCH and were completely unconcerned. They said I could carry on bleeding all way through but I bled on and off lightly until 12 weeks nothing since then. I am now 20 weeks have my scan Monday so may ask if its still there...

I’m currently 13+5 and have had on/off bleeding since week 9 due to a hematoma, some of the bleeds have been horrendous when I was sure I was losing my baby. This is also an IVF baby, conceived after 7 cycles, so I am absolutely petrified that something will go wrong. I have had 7 scans so far to try to put my mind at rest after each bleed. This past week has been awful with bleeding every other day. Sad

I think your hematoma is on the smaller side, all you can do is rest as much as you can and drink plenty of water. Xx

I had an SCH with DD.

Bled from 6 weeks to 18weeks. Sometimes so much blood it soaked through onto my bedsheets.

It was a hellish time, I had bleeding with both my previous pregnancies. Sadly both of them ended before 12 weeks.

There isn't a lot of information out there and doctors and midwives can't really give much information. It seems there is little understanding of SCH.

My advice would be to take each day as it comes and if you notice any change to the bleeding/pain then get checked out.

bob1985 · 25/02/2019 01:09

I should add that we had ivf too

bob1985 · 25/02/2019 01:15

And try and stay away from Dr
Google. It didn't help me at all, probably made me more anxious.

Each persons experience will be different. But I did find a little comfort in knowing others are going through the same

sunshinegirl12 · 25/02/2019 14:34

bob1985 how often were your bleeds? This current bleed has been going on nearly a week now, hfairly heavy every other day, then goes brown, then starts up again. I’m so scared.

bob1985 · 25/02/2019 15:52

@sunshinegirl12 it was every day. Varying amounts and colours. Sometimes just a little brown spotting, but a few times it was like a tap! On average I was getting through probably 2/3 pads a day , so not always super heavy. I did pass a couple of clots too.

It was terrifying. Especially as the doctors couldn't really give any comfort on if it would be ok. Each time I got checked they said that DD didn't seem bothered by the bleed but at the time that didn't help much as had I had the bad outcomes before

bob1985 · 25/02/2019 15:53

The stop/start pattern you described pretty much sums it up

Jenbot78 · 27/02/2019 20:32

Thanks so much everyone for your responses. It's all so worrying isn't it. I had a scan the other day and the hematoma has shrunk quite a bit. Obviously now I'm just finding other things to worry about! It's never ending...Good luck all xx

I’m back again! Thought that I was in the clear as had a reasonable week with only a bit of spotting. Then yesterday I had a big red bleed. It came out of nowhere and lasted several hours. I went to the EPU who checked my cervix which is closed. They said that they think it’s the SCH but I am having a scan on Monday to see more. Did others have bright red blood? This is what I had yesterday. I find it so hard to believe everything will be OK when I see blood like that. I am spotting red now so things have calmed down. Sending positive thought to everyone going through this, it is truly awful!

I had bright red blood and lots of it at 17wks. It was soaking through my jeans and dripping onto the floor. Took 6 weeks to fully stop. All was fine and dd is now 12 months and a healthy happy girl.
I think you will be fine xxx

shivbo2014 · 02/03/2019 08:00

It is so worrying, sorry you are going through it! Yes, I felt a gush of blood when i first bled with mine and it was bright red...

WiseBlankie · 02/03/2019 08:31

I have one too, maybe two. Mine is a fair bit larger; we saw it on a scan on Thursday. For me the problems didn't start until 17 weeks. I am 20 weeks today, and baby is still kicking. My first bleed was an absolute bucket of bright red blood - it looked like a horror show and I was terrified. Still am, tbh, although I have not had any red blood loss for two weeks, and no trace of old blood for a week.

bob1985 · 10/04/2019 08:08

@Jenbot78 @WiseBlankie how are you both? Hope all is well

sarahthewiganer · 10/04/2019 08:23

I had bright red blood two days ago, it was literally pouring out of me when I went to the loo. I was adamant it was my period and I was having a miscarriage. They managed to get me in for my first scan - I was 7 weeks exactly. They found I had twins (I was gobsmacked even though we had put two embryos in) and a large blood clot. She put me on two weeks bed rest and said hopefully my body will absorb it. If it detaches and comes out it may take a baby or both with it.

I'm literally sitting around all day and doing nothing to help resolve it. But I feel your worry, when that blood was coming out I didn't see how it could be ok.
