Early pregnancy - symptoms vanished

I'm only 4 and a bit weeks pregnant but had been feeling really sick since before my BFP. A couple of days ago my nausea just disappeared. This pregnancy is a last chance for me - I am almost 40 - and I am so worried I've lost it. I've not had any bleeding or pain but everything I've read on line says loss of symptoms is a sign of miscarriage. I've been offered a scan next week but I now think it would be too early to see anything either way. Did anyone have this and it turn out ok? Or is this definitely the end.

I didn't want to read and run! It could go either way in this scenario but I have a positive story, I am about 9 weeks now and at 6 and a half my symptoms suddenly seemed to vanish, bloating went and my boobs shrank and I stopped feeling sick! I thought the worst but a scan showed everything was measuring as it should be. I asked the doctor if it was normal and he said it isn't common but it does happen and doesn't always mean things have gone wrong. Since then I've had symptoms of some kind most days but they do come and go! Smile. The worst thing you can do is stress yourself out so just remember that unless you have bad cramps and bleeding it is likely you are still pregnant

Thanks. I doubt I'll be one of the lucky ones. I think I just have to accept that it wasn't meant to be.

I never had any symptoms my whole pregnancy. Ds is now 6. Only new I was pregnant as we were trying so I was testing. All was well.

Onlyinanemergency · 23/02/2019 13:39

I think it's different if you never had any. Mine were really strong but now disappeared.

You could contact your local maternity hospital and go to the early pregnancy unit. They might be able to give u scan.

It's too early. Like I say, I've been offered a scan for next week but I'd only be about 5 weeks so even if I was still pregnant they wouldn't see anything definitive.

Really sorry that you are so worried. 4 weeks is really early to be getting proper morning sickness. Most women only get it from around 6 weeks as the hormones haven't built up enough by 4 weeks (when you miss your period) to cause pregnancy related sickness. It could be that the sickness you've felt isn't morning sickness at all and just coincidence.
Most women (including myself) will see a lot of symptoms that early which we assume are related to the pregnancy but in actual fact aren't as it takes time for the body to start changing and recognising that there is something growing in there.
Have you had any other symptoms, sore breasts etc as they tend to hit earlier than sickness?
Also symptoms can come and go.
It's is unlikely you'll see much of use on a scan at 5 week so it won't necessarily stop your concerns.
Hope it turns out OK for you

Thanks Frizzy1986 but it is all my symptoms that have vanished. No funny taste in my mouth, no frequent urination. I'll phone the hospital on Monday and explain what has happened and see if they offer a later scan but otherwise I'm just trying to move on. I think is is probably what they call a chemical pregnancy. I don't think I'll try again after this as it has been the most awful few days.

Every one is different and just because it says it can be a sign that sometimes something isn't right, it isn't always. I had zero symptoms until about 7/8 weeks and my boobs were sore for a couple of weeks then it passed. I never felt sick throughout my pregnancy.

I wouldn't get an early scan, purely because at say 8weeks when you might get one everything could be fine and then at your 12 week scan there cld be no heartbeat. I don't think it reassures you too much.

Hope it all goes well for you X

This happened to me frequently in the first trimester. I freaked out so many times thinking something was wrong because I didn't 'feel' pregnant. And I googled it, and I panicked. Now 27 weeks along and my baby boy is going strong Smile
Try not to worry too much OP, everything crossed for you Thanks
