Hi all,

So I had my final cvs results today and it came back with 'mosaicism'. They have offered me an amino but to be honest I don't want one because I've had a stressful 3 weeks - cake out in eczema and I feel like I haven't enjoyed any of this pregnancy so far.

Has anyone had this before? Or experienced it? I was happy not long ago thinking ok that's fine let's just go with the scans and go with it but after speaking with the hubby he seems confused and a bit put off by it, he doesn't seem to get it basically.

Any info is much appreciated Smile

From what I understand, mosaicism means that your child has extra chromosomes in some of their cells but not all of them. Do you know which chromosome has been affected? It depends on which/how many cells have been affected to what effects it will have on your child, I imagine there is quite a range and I don’t Know if the Dr’s will be able to tell before birth.

I’m sorry your having to go through this. We found out our son had T18 a couple of years ago and the whole process of diagnosis is very stressful. Your best bet is to talk to your dr, they know the most. You could also contact ARC, they are a charity who help parents facing difficult antenatal choices.

@Waggily thanks for your reply. Well he has 23 chromosomes I've been told but I think there are 2 that are duplicated. We have been told that's it's a funny outcome. So if the baby doesn't have T14 it's just part of my placenta that has a few dodgy cells. T14 to me didn't sound bad, so they are saying a Possible heart defect even though on a previous scan heart was normal, maybe a lack of growth in the placenta so would mean baby would be born early but would continue to grow normally once outside the womb and developmental delays, which didn't bother me. So for me I was happy and I thought I would just go with the scans. I was also told one hormone is low and I would need aspirin?? I read somewhere that some women have had aspirin in pregnancy to help with their growth of the baby and monitored just to check. If the baby stops it's just born earlier..

Hey B0bb, I'm afraid I have no experience to share but would definitely second talking to ARC - they are wonderful.
It's so much to get your head around and I found them a huge help x
