Too much amniotic fluid. Scared and upset

Hi guys, I'm 34 weeks +4 and I've been for a growth scan today.
The lady scanning said I had too much amniotic fluid, she checked to see if there was a blockage but baby seems fine.

I had blood tests after (to check for viruses I think) and the consultant suggested it could be diabetes. I've not had the gtt as I get very sick if I don't eat every few hours due to hypoglycemia. I'm now scheduled for one next Thursday but I know if will end up invalid because I get so sick when hungry.

I'm really worried about what this means for baby, the consultant wasn't very helpful, just more having a go at me for not having the test before.

Can anyone put my mind at rest, has anyone else been through this?

Why did the consultant have a go at you? The GTT isn't something you volunteer for after all is it?! Doesn't sound very helpful.

I had a growth scan today as well and have been sent for a GTT as baby is at 90% centile for the abdominal measurement. So can't offer any advice but here in solidarity!

Does the consultant know you get low blood sugars? Going low can be an issue with gestational diabetes. Doing the GTT will help work out if the low blood sugars are causing issues and need management

Hi, I don’t have experience with this but my friend was induced at 39+5 partly because she had too much fluid and also she was worried about movements. Her son is absolutely fine and she doesn’t know what caused it.

I hope everything is fine for you too.
