Hello lovely people

I am 38 weeks pregnant today and pretty sure I have woken up with sickness and diarrhoea Sad trying to sip tea and nibble tea biscuits but feel I will vomit soon.

Is there an immediate danger to my baby or will I just have to take paracetamol for the headache & see it out for the day on the sofa?

Baby is moving etc as normal

Thanks so much

I had what I think was food poisoning at 27 weeks and had terrible D&V for 24 hours. I don't think there's anything you can do except keep your fluids up. I think any danger to the baby comes from dehydration rather than the bug. Hope you feel better soon x

Is it a bug or the start of labour? If it is a bug there is no immediate risk to the baby so just ride it out, I hope you feel better soon.

I had a V&D bug for 2 days around 25 weeks and I had no problems. At the start I thought the cramping was possible contractions and really worried about the baby.

Just have to ride it out and keep drinking water as much as you can. At 38 weeks could be a sign of labour getting close though!

Our NCT tutor told us that D&V is quite common in the early stages of labour - perhaps the baby is on its way!

My midwife told me that diarrhoea and vomiting can be a sign of early labour!

I had Noro a few weeks ago and it was horrid. I thought I was going into early labour before I realised it was stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Just try and keep your fluids up and rest. It took me a long time to get over it.

My labour started with horrible diarrhoea

Thank you so much for all your responses!! No baby & the diareaha has gone now - feeling much better. Did get my hopes up that she may be on her way but she will probably keep me waiting now Grin

Many thanks
